American Express Membership Rewards is running a promo on transfers to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. You will get a 30% bonus on Membership Rewards transferred to Virgin Atlantic through November 30, 2017.

With this promotion, you will receive 1,300 Virgin Atlantic Miles for Every 1,000 Membership Rewards you transfer.

Virgin Atlantic Membership Rewards 30 Percent Transfer Bonus Fall 2017

Value In The Offer

While Virgin Atlantic devalued and made some massive changes to Flying Club late last year, the program still offers some great value, including some excellent sweet spots for redemptions, including flights between the UK and Las Vegas/Los Angeles or even business class flights with partner Delta between the US and Europe.

If you are interested in a transfer but not 100% sure, remember that Membership Rewards ran a similar promotion in April of this year and before that the same time last year. So, you may have a little bit of a wait for another transfer bonus. You can also transfer Citi Thank You points to Virgin Atlantic if you miss the promotion but need the miles later.

Don’t forget that Virgin Atlantic is also a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards, and SPG, so there are plenty of options to transfer points for a specific redemption.

Overall

It’s generally never recommended to transfer credit card points speculatively, but rather hold on to them due to flexibility. This promotion is fantastic if you have a specific redemption in mind or were looking to cash in some of your miles with Flying Club.

  • Great deal! Thanks.

As usual, do this only if you have a use for the miles now or in the near future.

  • When booking award tickets, I always verify that the award space is available, before transferring points to an airline

  • If you need to top off, it’s nice. Otherwise, yeah, not worth it.

  • The Membership Rewards transfer looks like a go for me.

  • Anyone else get confused between all the different Virgins? Didn’t they merge with Alaska or something?

  • Seems like it’s the usual suspects for transfer bonuses. Hoping to see some new airlines once in a while.

  • Very good rate. I wish I had immediate use.

  • Great deal for anyone needing to fly ANA

  • It seems that Amex is doing a lot of promos lately. Do you think they are suffering from the Costco and Hilton loss? I’ve really thought about the Amex Hilton card and the Amex Blue card, but am really not too interested in Amex since most of the businesses I frequent handle Visa and Mastercard more. However, all these promos have peaked my interest. Have you seen a large benefit with having the Amex cards Howie, if you have them?

    • Tying these promos to Costco/Hilton would be a stretch. Amex is known to have these and we’re unsure if the promotion is mutual with the airline or if it is driven from one side or the other.

I have a handful of Amex cards that fit my needs. The Hilton Surpass gets me Diamond with Hilton, my Delta Reserve cards help me get to Platinum with Delta and my Platinum card helps across the board with lounge access and other perks. I like em 🙂

Excellent promo, get 30% extra points then transfer over to HH for additional points.

    • True, but I definitely would not recommend redeeming large quantities for that purpose. A 2 MR to 3 HH ratio, even with a 30% bonus on the front end is a pretty poor value.

Also be aware that MR points transferred to Virgin Atlantic may not be able to then be converted to hotel points. I know that it’s Hawaiian’s policy, to not allow conversions of 3rd party points.

Well now I know who I’m transferring points too.

  • Quite a nice offer

  • It’s good to see bonuses for transfers. It can lead to interesting redemption values.
