In a short amount of time, Frontier has transformed from a typical low-cost airline into an airline with a competitive loyalty program. In late August, Frontier announced two exciting new opportunities for frequent flyers to earn companion certificates and bonus miles. Although you need to act fast, the benefit is worth the effort. Here's everything you need to know about Frontier's latest promotions.

Frontier Airlines Mastercard Cardholders Can Earn Companion Certificates

If you have the FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard®, there are some exciting new benefits coming your way.

For a limited time, Frontier Airlines Mastercard cardholders can earn companion travel certificates by meeting minimum spending requirements. These certificates cover the fare for a companion of your choice for future Frontier flights. Unlike the Southwest Companion Pass, you can select a different companion each time you fly. You'll only need to pay government taxes and fees, which start at $5.60 each way. You have one year from the date of issuance to use your companion certificate, which is eligible for round-trip travel.

Welcome Bonus Earn up to 60,000 miles after meeting the minimum spending requirements. Plus, unlock instant elite gold status after making your first purchase.

You can earn three companion certificates by spending $20k through this promotion. Then, you will unlock unlimited companion travel when you reach Platinum elite status.

Here's how much you'll need to spend by January 31, 2026, to receive companion certificates:

  • Spend $3,000, receive one companion certificate
  • Spend $10,000, receive a second companion certificate and Silver status
  • Spend $20,000, receive a third companion certificate and Gold status
  • Spend $50,000, receive unlimited companion travel and Platinum status

As you can see, you'll need to be a heavy spender to unlock unlimited companion travel. From the start of the promotion on August 25, 2025, you have just over five months to spend $50,000. Many people can't spend $10,000 per month on one card. Fortunately, unlimited companion travel is now a standard perk for Platinum status. So, you're better off reaching status by flying rather than solely through credit card spending.

However, reaching the spending threshold to earn one or two companion certificates is much more doable. Plus, this promotion has come around just in time for holiday spending, so it might be a bit easier to reach higher spending targets than at other points of the year.

When you hold elite status, you also receive benefits like free seat selection, free carry-on bags, no change or cancellation fees, and complimentary seat upgrades. As a reminder, you'll earn as a cardholder. Not only will spending during the promotion period result in companion certificates, but you'll accrue a hefty chunk of miles you can use for future redemptions.

Frontier might not have the best connectivity of any U.S. airline, but it doesn't need to. If you travel frequently within the continental U.S., or to Central America or the Caribbean, you'll easily use your certificate. Make sure to use your certificates on itineraries with high airfare and low taxes so you get the most value.

For example, you could book a basic economy round-trip flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) in November for $393.94. With a companion certificate, you'd only need to pay the government-imposed fees of $11.20 to book your second ticket. If you frequently travel with a loved one, this can represent fantastic savings.

Frontier Miles Match

The other bit of exciting Frontier news is that Frontier Miles members can now match up to 1 million miles of a combined mileage balance from multiple qualifying airlines. The catch is you need to earn that same number of miles with Frontier in the next 12 months.

If you have 10,000 miles spread across other airlines, and you earn 10,000 miles with Frontier within 12 months, you will receive 20,000 miles. If you have a lot more miles sitting in your various airline accounts, don't match all of them unless you're sure you can meet the Mileage Match. Be realistic as to how many Frontier miles you can earn within one year.

For example, if you have 40,000 Delta SkyMiles, 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles, and 20,000 United MileagePlus miles, you could technically match up to 120,000 Frontier Miles. If you request a match of 120,000 miles and you only earn 50,000 miles, you won't earn any bonus miles. Instead, only request a match for the miles that you are confident you'll earn. Once you do, you'll receive your bonus miles.

How to register for Frontier Miles Match

  1. Sign up for Frontier Miles here.
  2. Fill out the submission form with your email address, first and last name, phone number, Frontier Miles number, and the amount of miles you want to match (up to the total miles balance from other airlines) by September 26, 2025.
  3. You will then receive an email where you can upload your documentation proving your other airline mileage balance.
  4. Earn up to 1 million miles within 12 months from offer enrollment.
  5. Receive your Mileage Match.

Frontier doesn't list which airlines qualify for the match, but we can presume that it's valid for most major U.S. airlines. It's also only open to new members, so if you already have a Frontier Miles account, you're out of luck. This promotion is part of a larger push to increase loyalty to the airline.

Final Thoughts

These two loyalty program promotions are fantastic ways to get more benefits out of Frontier's loyalty program. If you are new to the airline, you can sign up to earn a miles match, and apply for the Frontier Airlines Mastercard to earn companion certificates. Frontier serves 120 destinations in the U.S., Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America, so there are plenty of ways to use your miles and certificates throughout 2026. Be sure to register for the miles match by September 26, 2025, and spend on your credit card by January 31, 2026, to qualify.
