If you're itching to fly to (or from) Europe, we have some excellent news for you. Iberia just launched an up-to-30% off award promotion for flights through September 15, 2026. You can use this promotion to fly to Europe for as few as 14,400 Avios in basic economy.
Although this sale runs through May 10, 2026, you'll want to act fast to confirm availability. Here's everything you need to know about Iberia's Avios award sale.
Fly to or From Europe for as Little as 14,400 Iberia Avios
With Iberia's newest award travel promotion, you can fly between Madrid and select destinations for up to 30% off through mid-September 2026. And since Iberia uses a distance-based award chart, you can reasonably anticipate how many Avios you'll need to spend for the route you have in mind. Unfortunately, much of the eligible travel period for this promotion is during peak dates, so prices are higher than in other award sales.
However, even after Iberia's award chart devaluation last year, you can still find some solid deals through this promotion.

Although Iberia flies to 10 U.S. airports from its hubs in Madrid and Barcelona, only a couple of U.S. hubs are on sale through this promotion. And unfortunately, no U.S. city is eligible for 30% off — the biggest discount you can get on transatlantic flights is 20% off. If you live in another U.S. city but you want to take advantage of the sale, you might consider taking a positioning flight to a city on sale.
Here are the U.S. cities on sale for flights to or from Madrid:
- 20% off: Miami (economy), Orlando (business)
- 10% off: New York and Washington D.C. (economy), Miami and Chicago (business)
Here are the non-U.S. cities on sale:
- Get 30% off flights in business and economy between Madrid and Milan, Bordeaux, Split, Zagreb, Oslo, Rome, Turin, Athens, London, Porto, Casablanca, Tirana, Lyon, Manchester, Seville, Santander, Alicante, and Valencia.
- Get 20% off flights in business and economy between Madrid and Bologna, Dubrovnik, Prague, Budapest, Brussels, Faro, Lisbon, Toulouse, Tivat, Marrakech, Amsterdam, London, Lanzarote, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, and Bilbao.
- Get 20% off economy flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires, Fortaleza, Recife, Montevideo, Panama, and Toronto.
- Get 10% off flights in business and economy between Madrid and Venice, Catania, Olbia, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich, Santorini, Marseille, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Vienna, Florence, Nantes, Corfu, Mykonos, Nice, Dakar, Cagliari, Palermo, Ljubljana, Cairo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Dublin, Naples, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Menorca, Malaga, Almeria, San Sebastián, Granada, Jerez de la Frontera, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Caracas, Santo Domingo (plus Premium Economy), and Monterrey.
- Get 10% off economy flights between Madrid and Bogotá (plus Premium Economy), Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Guatemala City, San José, Mexico City, and San Juan
- Get 10% off business class flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires (plus Premium Economy), Fortaleza, Recife, Montevideo, Panama, and Toronto

How to Book an Award Flight Through Iberia
To take advantage of this promotion, you'll want to visit Iberia's website, log in to your account, and enter your flight details. Iberia's website is notoriously finicky, so be patient if you don't see any availability — you might just need to change your dates. The discount will automatically be reflected in the advertised fare, so you don't need to do anything special to book a sale award.

As we already mentioned, Iberia uses a distance-based award chart, with prices for peak and off-peak dates. Economy flights between 3,001 and 4,000 miles typically cost 19,500 Avios for peak dates or 16,000 Avios for off-peak dates. There are two routes between the U.S. and Madrid on sale that fall in this distance band. These economy flights are 10% off, which means you can book for as low as 14,400 Avios:
- New York (JFK) — Madrid (MAD)
- Washington DC (IAD) — Madrid (MAD)
Routes between 4,001 and 5,500 miles one-way normally cost the following:
- Peak: 24,250 Avios in economy, 74,000 Avios in business
- Off-peak: 20,000 Avios in economy, 50,500 Avios in business
There are three routes on sale between the U.S. and Spain that fall in this distance band. With up to 20% off, you can book flights as low as 16,000 Avios in economy or 40,400 Avios in business. However, the discount depends on the route:
- Chicago (ORD) — Madrid (MAD) (10% off business)
- Miami (MIA) — Madrid (MAD) (10% off business, 20% off economy)
- Orlando (MCO) — Madrid (MAD) (20% off business)
Here's what this looks like. You can fly from Miami to Madrid for just 16,000 Avios, as long as you depart in May or early June to avoid peak dates.

Or, fly business class from Orlando to Madrid for 40,400 Avios during off-peak dates.

You also don't need to stick around Madrid. Iberia flies all throughout Europe, so you can score some exceptional award flights in economy or business class. For instance, a one-way domestic flight from Madrid (MAD) to Valencia (VLC) will cost as little as 2,450 Avios in economy or 6,850 Avios in business.

Or, you can head to Croatia and explore Split for 5,600 Avios in economy or 12,800 Avios in business.

The options are really limitless, so you can get creative for your European getaway.

Final Thoughts
Simply put, this is a solid deal for award travel to Europe. Iberia already offers great award pricing on off-peak award flights between the U.S. and Europe. After taking up to 20% off these rates, these award prices are even better. Plus, get up to 30% off intra-European flights.
You'll want to act fast — although you can technically book your flight until May 10, 2026, you should book as soon as possible to lock in availability. Note that the sale is valid for flights through September 15, 2026, so you can get a jump on planning your summer travel.
