If you're chasing Delta elite status this year, you'll need to earn a lot of Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQDs). And if you're in need of a boost, Delta has two concurrent promotions offering bonus MQDs. The first allows you to earn MQDs on rental cars, hotels, and vacation rentals booked through Delta through October 31, 2025. The second gives you a 20% MQD bonus if you book an “Extra” fare on select flights.
Here's everything you need to know about these MQD promotions.

Earn 20% Bonus MQDs on Extra Fares
For a limited time, SkyMiles members can earn a 20% bonus in MQDs when booking an “Extra” fare. You'll need to book travel between September 1, 2025, and December 31.
Unfortunately, this isn't for worldwide travel. Eligible flights are for trips to the U.S. and the Caribbean. Flights must depart between October 1 and December 31.
To earn your bonus MQDs, you'll need to enroll in the offer and then book an Extra experience on a Delta-marketed and operated flight.
You can book the following fare products:
- Delta Main Extra
- Delta Comfort Extra
- Delta First Extra
- Delta Premium Select Extra
- Delta One Extra

Make sure to weigh the additional cost of an Extra fare against the 20% MQD bonus. For instance, a round-trip, nonstop flight from Atlanta to Sint Maarten (SXM) in December would cost $579 round-trip when booking a Delta Main Basic ticket. That shoots up to $759 for a Main Extra ticket.
The price difference is slightly less jarring for a Delta Comfort ticket — $1,059 for a Comfort Classic fare compared to $1,159 for a Comfort Extra ticket. The Comfort Classic ticket would earn 916 MQDs, while the Comfort Extra ticket would earn 1,219 MQDs. That's a difference of just 303 MQDs for an extra $100.
Unless you are only 300 MQDs away from reaching an upgraded status tier, it might not make sense to spend the extra money. That said, if you like booking an Extra fare for the added cancellation flexibility, this is a win-win.

Earn Delta MQDs on Car Rentals, Hotels, and Vacation Rentals
Delta is giving SkyMiles members the chance to earn MQDs on car rentals, hotel stays, and vacation rentals made through Delta Cars and Stays. For both car rentals and stays, you'll earn 1 MQD per $1 spent on the base rate — excluding taxes and fees.
To take advantage of this offer, you'll need to book travel by October 24, 2025, and complete it by October 31.
To qualify, make your reservation through this dedicated booking portal and include your SkyMiles number during checkout.

Our Take
If you are chasing Delta Medallion status, taking advantage of these MQD promotions can make a lot of sense. Just be sure to book and fly between October 1 and December 31. Then, make your rental car, hotel, and vacation rental reservations by October 24 and complete your travels by October 31, 2025.
Normally, we caution against booking hotels through third-party platforms like Booking.com or Kayak, since you typically won’t earn hotel points or elite credit. But this is a rare exception. Earning MQDs on these bookings can easily outweigh those tradeoffs if you’re chasing status with Delta.
