American Airlines AAdvantage members now have another way to earn miles and Loyalty Points — not from flights, but from booking concerts, sports games, theater shows, and other live events through AAdvantage Events.
Members earn miles on ticket purchases or redeem miles for events. While it may be a way to boost your mileage balance, redemptions don't provide the best value.
Here’s what you need to know about booking events through AAdvantage Events, how many miles you can earn, and whether it’s worth using your miles this way.
What Is AAdvantage Events?
AAdvantage Events is the American Airlines booking portal for concerts, sports, theater, and other events. Members can either book events with cash to earn miles and Loyalty Points or use their miles to book.

AAdvantage Events ties directly into Ticketmaster, offering the same ticket price and purchase protection. Anything you can find on Ticketmaster is available to earn or use your AAdvantage miles on.
Each ticket price shows how many miles members will earn. Conversely, use your miles to book Ticketmaster events and concerts. Members will minimally earn 3.5X miles on tickets, but you earn more miles with elite status or an AAdvantage credit card.

Tickets also require fewer miles for AAdvantage elite status members and AAdvantage credit cardholders. But on a mock purchase — as an AAdvantage Platinum member and credit card holder — it looks like you'll get around a cent per mile, so this isn't a redemption we'd recommend making even if you have status and/or cards.

Our Take
AAdvantage members can book concerts, sports games, and shows through AAdvantage Events to earn miles and Loyalty Points. But be careful on redemptions, though, as your miles will rarely be worth more than a cent apiece. To stretch them further, consider leveraging one of the many AAdvantage sweet spots instead.
