Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan has an interesting offer for up to a 50% discount on award flights to six international destinations. These featured destinations change each quarter, and this month’s lineup includes routes to foodie-favorite cities in Europe, South America, Southeast Asia, and more.
You'll need to book this month and fly during a specific period in early 2025. Here's everything you need to know.
Save Up to 50% on These Alaska Airlines Award Tickets
This promotion from Alaska Airlines applies to six destinations with discounted award flights at the following “starting at” prices:
- Monterrey, Mexico (MTY): Starting at 10,000 miles
- Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE): Starting at 20,000 miles
- Naples, Italy (NAP): Starting at 20,000 miles
- Lisbon, Portugal (LIS): Starting at 22,500 miles
- Tbilisi, Georgia (TBS): Starting at 25,000 miles
- Bangkok, Thailand (BKK): Starting at 30,000 miles

Do you actually get a 50% award discount?
If you'd like to book an award flight on these routes, you'll notice that these “starting at” prices are better than what you'll typically pay. However, the taxes and fees are not discounted. Moreover, these are discounts, but they aren't 50% on every route.
Ordinarily, a one-way award ticket between Philadelphia (PHL) and Naples (NAP) operated by American Airlines will cost you 27,500 Mileage Plan miles. With this promotion, you'll pay 20,000 miles. That's just over a 27% discount, not 50%.

The math is slightly different for a destination much further away, such as Bangkok (BKK). If you fly Qatar Airways from Dallas (DFW) and stop in Doha (DOH), you can book a one-way award for 30,000 miles, which is over a 29% discount from the 42,500-mile rate Alaska usually charges on this route.

While it's unfortunate these aren't true 50% discounts across the board, it's still a good opportunity to save miles on a redemption you were already going to make.

Visit Two Destinations With One Discounted Award
Going to Bangkok, Lisbon, Naples, and the rest sounds excellent. Know what's even better? Using one ticket to visit two places.
We are big fans of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. Its miles are extremely valuable: AwardWallet users have averaged 2.11¢ per mile in recent redemptions. If you're considering a discounted award ticket with this promotion, this deal can get even better.
Alaska Airlines allows free stopovers. You can use this to potentially stop in London or Dublin en route to Lisbon, for example.

Our Take
This is a really interesting promotion from Alaska Airlines. In fact, the best part about it is that it's “each quarter,” meaning we should continue to see new offers every few months. While the deal says “up to 50% off award travel,” not all routes are discounted that much. Luckily, there aren't any blackout dates for the discounted rates.

strangely, I cannot see any of the premium awards when I search
First time here. What’s up with the comments…are they always messed up?
Hey Mike! Could you elaborate what you mean about the comments? If this answers your question: AwardWallet moderates all comments. That’s because we get an extraordinary amount of spam links and phishing comments. Also, if you’re referencing seeing comments about older promotions, we update the posts with the latest promotion. That helps Google and readers know which page has the latest info on a topic (like this one about Alaska award discounts)
Hen’s teeth to find LAX – SYD in J for both sectors. Availability in J will show “mixed” cabin – longer flight in Y (coach) and shorter flight in J. so beware!
Ain’t that the truth? Frustrating how little availability there is between LAX-NAN in business class.
Thanks for getting the word out! I found the article just in time…
Wow! Another member joining the One World circle. I like this! This is a nice bonus for people who like to travel (like myself). I have to say though, 2000 points for 4 segments is not that great. 5000 points would be a better incentive for people to book their travel.
Not a ton of points, but a nice bonus if you happen to be making the flights anyway! It’s a shame it’s not valid on award travel though
This is a lot of flying for just 2000 points. Nice if you have trips scheduled anyway I guess, but certainly not something to go out of the way for.
Not the best offer for 2000 miles for 4 completed segments. Shopping portals offer similar bonuses during the holiday season.
To be very honest not a great promotion
only 2000. But then again, you cant’ pluck feathers from a chicken filled;)))
The offer is not impressive considering you have to take two Alaska and two AA flights. Hopefully better offer soon! But it is great news that Alaska just joined Oneworld.
Think the Register link is broken and need to be fixed!
Thanks for sharing though
Fixed. Thanks for the heads up. Here’s the link: https://www.alaskaair.com/promo/AS2103?int=AS_HomePage_SM%7C%7C20210406_AA2K%7C%7C-prodID:MPEnroll
Actually, you can register for this promo thru both Alaska airlines (earning 2k Alaska miles) and American Airlines (earning 2k Aadvantage miles). The Aadvantage promo may be targeted, but I got the email. I plan to take “advantage” of both promos, which will require 4 legs on Alaska flights (crediting two legs to Alaska and two to Aadvantage), and 4 legs on American (again, crediting two legs to Alaska and two to Aadvantage).
Wow, Alaska joining One World is excellent news. I can’t wait to fly them! Thanks for the update!
Pretty paltry bonus for taking 4 flights. Nothing to go out of your way for.
This is certainly a way to celebrate the newest addition to one world. I hope this will be a long and fruitful relationship.
