Bank of America recently returned the bonus on its Alaska Airlines Visa® Business card back to the standard offer of 50,000 bonus miles plus a $100 statement credit plus Alaska's Famous Companion Fare™ from $122 ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) bonus miles after meeting the minimum spending requirement. Despite the return to the standard offer, recent changes to the card make it a very attractive offering for small business owners who are regular Alaska flyers.
Alaska Business Card Welcome Bonus
The Alaska Business Card is currently offering its standard welcome bonus. Annual Companion Fare
Every year on the account opening anniversary, receive a Companion Fare code in your Alaska Mileage Plan account. The code is valid on Alaska Airlines for a round-trip or one-way coach companion fare. The companion fare starts from $121 — which breaks down as $99 for the base fare plus taxes and fees starting at $22 depending on the flight itinerary. To use the code, both the primary and companion fares must be paid for using your Alaska Business Card.
First Checked Bag Free
Every time you fly with Alaska, you will receive your first check bag free. This perk can add up to a substantial saving over the year, especially when you consider that it also applies to up to six other passengers on the same reservation as you.
Consider that Alaska charges $30 for the first checked bag. If you take only one round-trip per year with a family of 4, that is a saving of $240. That more than makes up for the card's base annual fee of $75 ($70 for the company and $25 per card).
20% Off Inflight Purchases
Receive a 20% rebate as a stamen credit every time you use your card for eligible inflight purchases. The rebate applies to food and beverage purchases as well as Wi-Fi onboard purchases. You can expect this rebate to hit your account within 7 days of the transaction posting date.

When it comes to redeeming your Alaska miles While there are plenty of options and sweet spots for you to maximize the value of your miles. Like a lot of programs, some of the best awards are on partner metal. Some of the best value awards include:
- Qantas First Class from the US to Australia for 70,000 miles each way plus taxes and fees.
- Qantas business class from the US to Australia for 55,000 miles each way plus taxes and fees.
- JAL First Class from the US to Asia for 70,000 miles each way plus taxes and fees.
- JAL business class from the US to Australia for 60,000 miles each way plus taxes and fees.
- Flights with North America start from 5,000 miles one way plus taxes and fees.
Application Eligibility
Bank of America imposes some eligible criteria on its credit card applications. Bank of America's 2/3/4 rule can be summed up as no more than:
- 2 new Bank of America cards in any 2 months period.
- 3 new Bank of America cards in any 12 months period.
- 4 new Bank of America cards in any 24 months period.
One thing to remember is that if you hold Bank of America deposits accounts, then the “3” in the turns into a “7” and you can open 7 Bank of America cards in a 12-month period. Additional eligibility criteria that apply to the card application include:
- You can only have a maximum of 5 Bank of America consumer credit cards.
- If you held the card previously, you can only apply for it again 24 months after account closure.

This card has a robust set of features and benefits and currently offers its standard welcome bonus. Factor in that it only carries an annual fee starting at $75 ($70 for the company and $25 per card) and this is a great card to have on your application radar.
