American Express has raised the welcome bonus offers on three of the Delta rewards credit cards! Increased offers on the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express, Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express, and Delta Reserve® Credit Card from American Express offer the perfect chance to grow your SkyMiles balance, and set you up for your next big redemption!
The first offer is for the Gold Delta Amex, which has a limited time offer of 60,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months and a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 3 months. Terms Apply.
Other key benefits include a free checked bag for up to 9 passengers per flight. That's a perk that can save you a lot of money if you travel with multiple people and check your bags! You also get Zone 1 priority boarding and a 20% discount on in-flight purchases. There are no foreign transaction fees, the card is equipped with smart chip technology, and you'll pay a $0 introductory annual fee for the first year, then $95. (Rates & Fees).
These are great benefits if you fly Delta a few times per year, but not enough to receive elite status.
The next limited-time offer is for the Platinum Delta Amex, which has an offer of 75,000 bonus miles plus 5,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles after you make $3,000 in purchases on your new Card within your first 3 months. You'll also receive a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new card within your first 3 months. Terms Apply.
Other benefits include Zone 1 priority boarding, an anniversary domestic main cabin round-trip companion ticket, 2 miles per $1 on Delta purchases, no foreign transaction fees, smart chip technology, and the first checked bag free for up to 9 passengers. The additional MQMs make the Platinum Delta Amex an enticing offer for folks trying to reach or maintain Delta elite status. The card features an annual fee of $195 (Rates & Fees).
And finally, the Delta Reserve has an offer of 75,000 bonus miles plus 5,000 MQMs after you spend $5,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. Terms Apply.
Other benefits include Delta SkyClub access for the primary cardholder (plus up to 2x guests at reduced rate of $29), an anniversary domestic First-Class, Comfort+, or Main Cabin round-trip companion ticket, 2 miles per $1 on Delta purchases, no foreign transaction fees, smart chip technology, and the first checked bag free for up to 9 passengers. If you don't currently have SkyClub access via The Platinum Card® from American Express, the Delta Reserve is the best option to get complimentary access, and for less than the cost of a paid annual SkyClub membership at $450 per year (Rates & Fees).
Eligibility for the Delta Limited Time Offers
You can only receive a new cardmember welcome bonus once per lifetime on American Express credit cards. All the Delta Amex rewards cards are seen as different products, so you can have each of the Gold, Platinum, and Reserve Delta personal and business rewards cards.
The exact terms of the application pages state:
“Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility.”
Delta can get a bad rap since they don't have an award chart on their SkyMiles website, and they have a habit of making unannounced changes to award pricing. But you can still achieve top value using SkyMiles for both domestic and international award travel. Plus, if you have American Express Membership Rewards points, you can top off your Delta SkyMiles account by transferring MR points into your SkyMiles account.
If you travel on Delta frequently, then applying for one (or more) of these offers can help you bank a substantial balance of SkyMiles, and you'll save money on checked bag fees and via the companion tickets issued on the premium cards. While you can only receive the welcome bonus once on Amex cards, Delta offers more co-brand cards than any other domestic airline so there are plenty of chances to pick up a stack of miles for your next redemption!
