The offer is targeted, although if you have not received an email, you should check your account to see if it is available to you. What is great about the offer it that you can add up to 4 users for a total bonus of 40,000 Hilton Honors Points.

If I click through the link, log in and add an authorized user, does that mean I’m good to go on the bonus? How do I know if I qualify?
Sorry I don’t understand your question. If you see the offer, you’re eligible for the bonus. The user then has to spend $1,000 within 90 days for you to get the bonus.
Data Point.
Amex told me that while you can add an AU without supplying the SSN, they will absolutely not expedite a card unless they have the person’s DOB and SSN.
Unfortunately for me, when I got the card I noticed that Amex had misspelt my AU’s name. First world woes!
Keep in mind that without an SSN/DOB Amex will close the card after 60 days.
I added an additional user on my Amex PRG account without knowing thar there is a promotion via a link for 5K points. Will Amex honor the the points even if I didn’t go thru a link ?
Highly unlikely. You could call and ask, but I would not count on it.
Healthy bonus for adding authorized users. Amex needs to keep this up since Hilton devaluation was so severe years ago. I wish Starwood card still had bonuses for. Adding users.
While it’s nowhere in the same league as this, there’s an 250 point bonus around the internet for adding an authorized user to a AMEX Blue card account after the user spends $250.
Looks like I have a new card that I will want to sign up for.WOOHOO
Thank you. The best ‘add an authorized user’ offer I remember before this is the 5000 miles with the Chase United Mileageplus sign up bonus, and, I think, some other Chase card (maybe Southwest).
looks like a pretty easy way to earn 40k points…count me in
Thinking about this card in light of Citi dropping Hilton, wondering if I should apply for card on one of us and then wait to add other once bonus is offered.
I suppose adding an authorised user is exactly the same as providing a spouse with an additional card on your account. They used to run regular promos for this like add a secondary for 5k points.
exactly.
nice bonus for 40K Hilton points!!!
I wish I could add my dog. She has the same last name.
haha!
If she meets the minimum age requirement, would you try?
Is there additional annual cost for the addition user?
Depending on the card type/account there may be.
Thanks for the reminder I forgot about getting points for adding an authorized user.
I received an offer of 5,000 points on the Hilton Platinum from American Express. Does adding an authorized user count against them under the Chase 5/24 rule?
Yes, it will.
That’s the other shoe I was waiting to drop. 🙂
I’ve never added any authorized users to my Amex cards because they seem to want more information about my users than other cards. I believe they want their social security numbers. Although I would love to get my family working for me (and they do with my Chase cards), unless someone can tell me I’m mistaken, I’ll have to pass on this offer.
One should always weigh the value of the new sign up bonus vs the addtional card bonus. If the additional person has sufficient income it always seems to make sense to go for the sign up bonus rather than the additional card bonus.
An important thing to keep in mind: Being an authorized user in and of itself does not preclude you from receiving a new cardmember welcome bonus.
I wish other cards outside of Amex offered authorized user bonuses such as this.
I assume these bonuses only apply in the USA.
It is safe to assume that anytime we’re talking about credit card here that the offer is the US only. If something applies elsewhere that we can confirm, we’ll absolutely call it out.
Had the same Question in mind..So, just out of curiosity: Has there ever been a CC-Offer for outside the US?
Not that we have covered. Unfortunately, credit card companies and associated rules/promotions differ by country. We stick with what we know best; cards in the US.
Do they pull a credit check on the additional cardholders?
Amex does not. Authorized/additional cardholders are not financially responsible for the card account — only the primary cardmember.
It says that this offer is no longer available, so I guess I am not targeted
I’m afraid nobody is getting added to my account as an authorized user no matter how many points I’m offered! This is a fantastic deal though if you were thinking about adding an authorized user anyway.
Wow! What a great tip. An easy way to earn 40,000 points. Thank you. You are the best.
