Delta has added Turo as another car company partner, and there is a new member bonus to celebrate this partnership. If you've never rented from Turo, you can join now, link your accounts, and get 2,000 SkyMiles. Here are the details.
Delta and Turo Partnership
Delta has recently partnered with Turo as a second car company with which you can earn bonus points. This adds to Delta's ongoing partnership with Hertz.
When renting from Hertz, Delta Silver and Gold Medallion members earn 1,300 SkyMiles per rental (1,000 base miles and 300 bonus miles), and Platinum and Diamond Medallion members get 1,550 SkyMiles per rental (1.250 base miles and 300 bonus miles). Additionally, Delta Gold Medallion members receive complimentary Five Star status in the Hertz Gold Plus Rewards program. Meanwhile, Delta Platinum and Diamond Medallion members receive President's Circle status with Hertz.

Turo isn't the same as Hertz (or any other rental car company), as you rent your cars from private owners, rather than corporately owned cars. Think of Turo like an Airbnb for cars.
With the spike in car rental prices and limited vehicles, Turo is an excellent alternative. Turo can often be cheaper than a traditional rental car agency — especially for young drivers. Turo has vehicles in over 7,500 cities across the U.S., Canada, and the UK, and some of the vehicles can be rented for as little as $25 a day. There are as many as 1,300 different vehicles available between the cities, including Teslas! The Delta and Turo partnership is a great opportunity for Delta members who have had difficulty making reservations with Hertz.
2,000 Bonus Points Promotion
To celebrate the new Delta and Turo partnership, new Turo members will receive 2,000 bonus SkyMiles after linking their Delta SkyMiles accounts to Turo and completing their first rental. This bonus is only for members who have never rented on Turo before.
After your first Turo rental, you will earn 500 SkyMiles for each subsequent rental. This also applies to existing Turo members with previous rental activity. This isn't as many bonus miles as you'll earn with each Hertz rental, but, as mentioned, there are times when Hertz cars aren't available or are more expensive, so Turo can be a better option.
For reference, AwardWallet users have recently redeemed Delta SkyMiles at an average of 2.18¢. Thus, 500 SkyMiles per rental is worth around $10.90. The 2,000 bonus Skymiles from the new member bonus is worth around $43.60.
At present, there's no known end date to this promotion.
Our Take
While it's not as many bonus SkyMiles as renting with Hertz, this is a great promotion to take advantage of — especially when Hertz is out of cars or Turo options are cheaper.
