This Finnair buy Avios promotion has ended. However, you can still buy Finnair Avios here.
Out of the seven airlines that use Avios, Finnair Plus is one of the least well-known. However, it might get on your radar with its latest promotion. The airline just launched an offer to buy Avios with up to a 40% bonus, letting you score Avios for as little as 1.55¢ apiece. That's great news, whether you plan to redeem Avios via Finnair — or transfer those Avios to one of the many other Avios programs.
You'll need to act fast, as the up to 40% bonus offer lasts until June 1, 2026.
But is buying Avios actually worth the cost? Let’s show you how you can leverage this promotion to score some incredible deals.
Key Terms of This Buy Finnair Avios Deal
- Buy or gift Avios to receive up to a 40% bonus.
- This promotion is valid through 11:59 p.m. UTC+3 (4:59 p.m. EDT) on June 1, 2026.
- Members can purchase a maximum of 200,000 Avios per year (before bonus miles).
- This offer is only available to Finnair Plus members who have joined the program before May 15, 2026.
- You can only purchase Avios during this promotion if your Finnair Plus account has a balance of at least 50 Avios. However, you can get this by transferring Avios from British Airways to Finnair.
- Avios purchases do not count toward tier point earning.
- Purchased Avios will be added to your account within three business days. However, data points from AwardWallet users show that Avios purchases are processed immediately.

This promotion offers up to a 40% bonus on Avios purchases through the Finnair Plus program. Note that it may be targeted, so you might see a different offer when you log in to your account. If you don't see any promotion, it might be because you just joined the program or don't have enough Avios in your account. If that's the case, you might have to wait until the next promotion drops.
Finnair lets you buy up to 200,000 Avios per calendar year. If you’re eligible for the 40% bonus, you could purchase 280,000 Avios for $4,340, which comes to about 1.55¢ per point.
Just note that you'll need to purchase a significant amount of Avios to get the optimal rate. Here’s how the tiers break down for members eligible for the 40% bonus:
- 1,000—4,000 Avios: No bonus (2.8¢ each)
- 5,000 Avios: 25% bonus (2.24¢ each)
- 6,000—10,000 Avios: 25% bonus (1.94¢ each)
- 11,000—19,000 Avios: 25% bonus (1.82¢ each)
- 20,000—49,000 Avios: 30% bonus (1.75¢ each)
- 50,000—79,000 Avios: 35% bonus (1.69¢ each)
- 80,000—99,000 Avios: 40% bonus (1.63¢ each)
- 100,000—200,000 Avios: 40% bonus (1.55¢ each)
As you can see above, the best purchase rate starts when you purchase at least 100,000 Avios. After the 40% bonus, you'll pay roughly 1.55¢ per Avios. You will see the bonus when you proceed to buy Avios in the Finnair Shop.

Is It Worth Buying Finnair Avios?
In general, we don't recommend buying miles speculatively. You should have a plan as to how you're going to use your purchased miles. Ideally, you'll earn your points and miles through everyday spending with a travel rewards credit card. However, if you've identified a fantastic redemption and you're just a few thousand miles short, it can make a lot of sense to buy the remaining miles you need. And sometimes, for really great redemptions, it can actually be cheaper to buy the miles you need than to pay for a cash fare.
Transferring Avios between programs
You can easily move the Avios you purchase from this promotion to other Avios-earning accounts like British Airways or Iberia. Here are all the programs that use Avios as their point currency:
- Aer Lingus AerClub
- British Airways Club
- Finnair Plus
- Iberia Club
- Qatar Privilege Club
- Loganair Loyalty
- Vueling Club
This makes it easier to buy miles at the lowest rates. You can simply pick the program offering the cheapest rate. For reference, here are all of the Avios programs that sell Avios and their current offers (if any):
Finnair Avios expiration policy
It's important to note that Finnair Avios expire after 18 months of inactivity. Be sure to keep this in mind if you don't plan to use your newly purchased Avios immediately.

Buy Finnair Avios To Save on Flights
To get an idea of what you can do with your miles, here is Finnair's award chart for its own flights. All prices listed are one-way to or from Helsinki.

Finnair posts separate award charts for its partner airlines, including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and more. It's worth a glance at each of these award charts to get a rough estimate of how much you'll spend. It's also worth noting that you can't combine more than one partner in an award booking. Thus, you could book an award for a Finnair flight connecting to a partner, but you can't book an award that has both Alaska and American Airlines flights.
North America to Europe in Finnair business class
Finnair flies to six gateways in the U.S.: Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle (SEA), Dallas (DFW), Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), and Miami (MIA). That means a one-way Business Classic award from any of these cities to Europe would cost 62,500 Avios.
- Mileage rate: 62,500 Avios + $149.80 each way
- Typical cash price: $6,008 round-trip
- Redemption rate: 4.57¢ per Avios
- Cost to buy 63,700 Avios (after 30% bonus): $1,117 one-way
- Cost to buy exactly 62,500 Avios at 1.55¢ each: $969 one-way

Europe to Tokyo in Finnair business class
If you're already in Europe, you can take a positioning flight to Helsinki (either on Finnair or another airline) and then head to Japan for the same number of miles as a transatlantic flight would cost. However, the flight from Helsinki (HEL) to Tokyo (NRT) is over 13 hours, which feels like a better value for your buck.
- Mileage rate: 62,500 Avios + $162.10 each way
- Typical cash price: $3,675 round-trip
- Redemption rate: 2.68¢ per Avios
- Cost to buy 63,700 Avios (after 30% bonus): $1,117 one-way
- Cost to buy exactly 62,500 Avios at 1.55¢ each: $969 one-way

North America to Australia in Qantas business class
You can book a nonstop Qantas business class flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney (SYD) for just 95,000 Avios. Is that the best rate we've ever seen from any Qantas partner? Not necessarily, but when cash rates are very expensive, it's something to consider.
- Mileage rate: 95,000 Avios + $386.50 each way
- Typical cash price: $8,080 round-trip
- Redemption rate: 3.85¢ per Avios
- Cost to buy 95,850 Avios (after 35% bonus): $1,619 one-way
- Cost to buy exactly 95,000 Avios at 1.55¢ each: $1,473 one-way

Buy Finnair Plus Points & Avios History
We have compiled a list of former Finnair promotions for buying points and Avios. Keep in mind that Finnair used to have Finnair Plus points and didn't adopt Avios as its currency until March 2024. So, while the Plus points used to cost much less than Avios, they are worth a lot more now that they can be transferred to airlines like Iberia and Qatar.
As you can see, the current 40% bonus is a good promotion, but it doesn't let you buy Avios at the lowest rate we've seen.

Get Finnair Avios Without Buying Them
Instead of buying Finnair Avios, you could transfer your Capital One miles to Finnair at a 1:1 ratio (with a minimum transfer of 1,000 miles). Most transfers are processed immediately.
Alternatively, you could transfer points to other Avios-utilizing airlines, such as British Airways, and then make a separate transfer to Finnair. It requires multiple steps, but British Airways partners with more transferable rewards programs than Finnair does:
Our Take
Buying Avios at 1.55¢ each offers a solid rate, especially compared to Finnair’s usual pricing. With the 40% bonus, members can purchase up to 280,000 Avios, bringing the cost down to just 1.55¢ per point.
That said, it’s worth keeping an eye on other Avios partners as well. British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, and Qatar frequently run their own promotions, and you may find an even better rate elsewhere.
As always, whether this offer makes sense depends on your travel plans. If you’re just a few points short of a high-value redemption for some upcoming travel, now could be a good time to buy. But if you want to take advantage of this Finnair deal, don’t wait too long, since the promotion ends June 1, 2026.
