After being extended a few times, Hyatt's current round of Bonus Journeys promotions are finally coming to a close. Not surprisingly, Hyatt is launching new promotions just as the old ones end.

The latest ‘Bonus Journeys' promotion takes things in a new direction. Instead of offering double elite night credits or triple/quadruple points, this promotion offers a simple, flat bonus. Starting February 23, 2021, World of Hyatt members can register to earn up to 2,500 bonus points after every two nights stayed. Plus, each member can receive a Free Night Award after completing 10 qualifying nights.

Though not quite as exciting as saving 25% on all award bookings or earning double elite nights, this promotion is still pretty valuable. Let's go over all the details so I can show you why.

Up to 2,500 Bonus Points Every Two Nights

  • Members must register by May 15, 2021 and before completing any qualifying stay to earn bonus points.
  • After registration, all members will earn 2,000 bonus points after every two qualifying nights completed between March 1, 2021 and June 15, 2021.
  • Cardholders of the World of Hyatt Credit Card will receive an additional 500 bonus points after every two qualifying nights in the same period. This brings their total bonus to 2,500 bonus points every two nights.
  • An “Eligible Night” is defined as any night where a member is paying an eligible rate or redeems a free night award.
  • Eligible nights do NOT need to be consecutive to qualify.
  • There is no limit to the number of bonus points that members can earn with this promotion.
  • Allow two to three weeks for bonus points to post after checkout.

Earn A Free Night Award After 10 Nights

  • Registered members can earn one (1) category 1–4 Free Night Award after completing their tenth qualifying night between March 1, 2021 and June 15, 2021.
  • Free Night Awards earned with this promotion will expire 180-days after issuance.
  • The Free Night Award is in addition to any bonus points earned.

How valuable is this new Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion?

While 2,000 bonus points probably doesn't sound too staggering, this promotion may be more valuable than you first imagine.

World of Hyatt points are markedly more valuable than the award currency of most competitor hotel chains. For example, I typically value Hyatt points around 1.5¢ each—compared to 0.5¢ apiece with Hilton and IHG points. With that valuation, a 2,000-point bonus equals roughly $30. This jumps up to $37.50 if you have a World of Hyatt Card and receive a 2,500-point bonus.

However, a better perspective is perhaps to look at the bonus through the lens of a potential award night redemption. If you hold the World of Hyatt Card and complete four qualifying nights, you'll receive 5,000 bonus points. That's enough for a free night in a category 1 Hyatt property.

If you intend to stay 10 nights during the promotion, the value is even higher. Hyatt members staying 10 nights will earn 10,000 bonus points PLUS a Free Night Award (category 1–4). Meanwhile, World of Hyatt Card holders will receive a total of 12,500 bonus points and a Free Night Award (category 1–4). That's not a bad haul, especially if those stays were booked with points or free night awards.

Hyatt Promotions through February 28, 2021

This new Hyatt Bonus Journeys promotion starts the day after several current Hyatt promotions end. The following offers run through February 28, 2021:

  • Previous Hyatt ‘Bonus Journeys‘ Offer — Registered members can earn triple points on all stays (up to 150,000 bonus points). Additionally, members who hold a World of Hyatt Card can earn quadruple points on resort stays (up to 225,000 bonus points).
  • Double Elite-Qualifying Nights — Qualifying nights completed between January 1, 2021 and February 28, 2021 will count double towards 2021 elite status qualification.
  • 15–25% Point Rebates on Award Stays — For stays through February 28, 2021, registered members will get a 15% rebate on award stays. Moreover, World of Hyatt Card cardholders get an elevated 25% rebate.
  • Free Parking on All Award Stays — All Hyatt members can receive free parking (self-parking or valet) on free night awards and Points + Cash stays. Plus, Hyatt Globalists can receive the same benefit on eligible paid stays.
  • Triple Points on Dining — World of Hyatt members can earn triple base points on dining purchases at Hyatt properties when they aren't staying.

Keep in mind that registration closed for most of these on January 15, 2021. So, if you didn't already take advantage of them, there's no use searching for the registration page now.

Bottom Line

I'm not too reserved when it comes to spouting Hyatt's praises, especially considering how proactive its loyalty program has been amidst waning travel. It's been all over it, offering promotion after promotion, some of which are among the most lucrative we've ever seen.

Just as Hyatt's season of incredible promotions is coming to a close, the popular program has announced a new Bonus Journeys promotion. Through June 15, registered members can earn up to 2,500 bonus points after every two qualifying nights. Plus, all members can earn a category 1–4 Free Night Award after their first 10 nights.

For me, this promotion isn't nearly as exciting as the ability to save up to 25% on all award bookings. Oh well—I knew that couldn't last forever. Between the highs of the last promotion and the normalcy of pre-COVID, this promotion splits the difference. It's not valuable enough for anyone to book stays because of it. But it provides a not-insignificant bonus for anyone booking stays anyway.

This promo is certainly worth leveraging, but really think the last Bonus Journeys promo was vastly more lucrative. That’s okay, some promos are better than none.

Nice idea but January is just around the corner.

These are just some things that they have taken away from us during the past years. Parking fees, resort fees, and so many myriads of fees in order to keep the room rates down smacks of false advertising to me. If all these fees are mandatory, they should be included in the room fee.

I prefer to get free parking at Hyatt hotel as you know some place parking is very very expensive. Also I like get 2X elite night to stay at Hyatt hotels. Hope i can be keep my level this difficult year.

If double quantify night offer can be composition with Credit card offer was perfect but even if I’d prefer to get double quantify night to upgrade my membership asap. This year is very hard for hotels group. Hope Hyatt will be keep benefit for advance member.

My next possible Hyatt stay for work is in the two week “dead zone” between the end of the current promotion and the beginning of the new one. So I’m staying at a Hilton instead! I will switch back to Hyatt when the promotion is live but seriously, what is the point of that two week time period between the first and second promotion?

  • Avatar

It would be even better if Hyatt can lower the number of nights required to qualify for status too.

Hats off to Hyatt. They are the best!

I love Hyatt and glad to see that they have a promotion for those who are going to brave it out at the new Alila property in Big Sur. Thanks for the 5 AA miles.

Second stay is a bit of a high bar right now.
Any stay bonus “starting with the second night” would have been more likely to meet.

As we had to cancel our spring break trip, we are now looking for a late summer getaway, this might just be the right offer for us to get a trip and reel in some savings!

    Thanks!

These promotions again try to get users to start traveling again. I think that all hotel chains should make similar to Hyatt promotions to re-incentivize people. good for Hyatt.

  • Avatar

3X points should be offered from the first stay. That would be fantastic.

  • Avatar

Great offer for sure, and certainly enough to sway my booking decisions once we’re able to go somewhere.

  • Avatar

    I got 15% off and max $38

After just having cancelled a trip for later this year, not sure if I’m ready to book again. But this is a great deal!

    • Avatar

I share your feelings; I do not want to go through the trouble of cancelling everything again.

      • Avatar

Definitely understand the sentiment, @Karl. But, at the same time, there are quality offers out there with flexible cancellation policies now in place. We have the opportunity to be rewarded down the road for persevering and trusting now.

If a purchase two rooms for two people, will i receive the promo twice? Thanks!!

    • Avatar
      JT Genter says:

That’s a good question. Unfortunately not. The FAQ read: “If I pay for more than one room during the same stay, will I receive Bonus Points on qualifying nights for all rooms? A member will only earn Bonus Points for the room he/she occupies during the Promotion Period.”

  • Avatar

Thanks! I registered for the promo but I didn’t have the Chase offer for 10% back. Great deal for those that received it!

It’s always great to see a Chase Offer for Hyatt!
