Delta currently offers two programs tailored to business travelers: Delta SkyMiles for Business and Delta Business Traveler. The former is designed for small- to medium-sized businesses, while the latter is designed for individual business travelers.
So, how do these programs compare? Let's take a look.
What Is the Delta Business Traveler Program?
The Delta Business Traveler program, launched in August 2024, offers benefits designed for individual business travelers. These are wide-ranging, so don't assume they are limited to Delta.
Here's an overview of the benefits attached to joining the free Delta Business Traveler program, as listed on the Delta Business Traveler webpage:
- 50% off your first three months of LinkedIn Premium.
- 3 months of Calm Premium for free.
- 30-day free trial of ExpressVPN.
- 20% off Espresso Displays purchases.
- Benefit from a free trial, then a $99 monthly membership to Industrious co-working space.
Whenever you sign up, you might see additional benefits in your account. I registered in just a few seconds by filling out my company name and information, and then I saw additional offers in my account:
- Additional 2X Bonus Miles with Cars & Stays booked through Delta.
- A $250 Sponsored Job credit with Indeed.
- Six months of Hertz Five Star status and fast track to President’s Circle status.
- Special savings on Delta Vacations packages.
- A 30% discount on a MasterClass membership.
Most benefits require enrollment and will expire, so be sure to enroll as soon as you register for a Business Traveler account.
You're eligible to join the program if you meet the following three criteria:
- You're a Delta SkyMiles member.
- You travel for work — even if your company doesn't belong to SkyMiles for Business.
- You're a U.S. resident.

What Is Delta SkyMiles for Business?
Delta SkyMiles for Business has been around since October 2023, slightly longer than the Business Traveler program. It's targeted toward small- to medium-sized enterprises in the U.S. and Canada. It has three membership tiers: member, plus, and elite.
Delta SkyMiles for Business members receive the following:
- Personalized offers from Delta
- Partner benefits
- Program support team
- Reporting
- Travel management tools
This tier is open to all small and medium enterprises based in the U.S. and Canada.
Delta SkyMiles for Business Plus gives you all of the same benefits as the member tier, as well as:
- Ability to earn and transfer miles
- Ability to earn eCredits
- Delta SkyClub individual memberships
- SkyMiles Silver Medallion status
- Opportunity to earn when flying on Air France, KLM, Virigin Atlantic, Aeromexico
- Bonus miles by cabin
To qualify for the plus tier, you need five or more business travelers and $5,000 in Delta spending per year.
The elite tier gives you all the same benefits as the plus tier, but also includes 15% bonus miles. To qualify, you'll need five or more business travelers and $300,000 in spending per year — quite the jump from the previous tier.
Plus and elite tiers earn up to 10 miles per dollar spent, depending on the product purchased and departure/arrival airports.
If you run a small or medium enterprise, you can join SkyMiles for Business using promo code SM4BHLTN by August 31, 2025 to earn a $50 Delta eCredit. You just need to complete a flight within 90 days of enrollment. This is in partnership with Hilton for Business, so you might want to register for that program as well.
Delta Business Traveler Vs. SkyMiles for Business
The main difference is that one is targeted at individuals, and one is targeted at companies. SkyMiles for Business is aimed at companies and businesses, allowing them to earn miles for individual business travel by employees.
Delta Business Traveler is aimed at individuals who are in charge of their business travel plans. So, if you are self-employed or your company lets you organize your travel and reimburses you, the Delta Business Traveler program is aimed at you.
Should You Join Either Program?
On the surface, the Delta Business Traveler program does not cost you much (it's free!), but it does not give you much, either. So, it's hard to see the true value of this program since everything it offers is not particularly valuable and is something you can get for free elsewhere.
For instance, the Industrious membership is attractive if you use a co-working space while on the road. However, a quick look at the company's locations shows that it has a limited number of outposts. Unless you happen to work regularly in one of the few cities with a co-working space, the membership won't do you much good.
And while car rental elite status is nice, it is nothing to write home about. You have many options to get car rental elite status for free. For instance, if you hold The Platinum Card® from American Express, you will receive complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status as long as your card is open. (Enrollment is required for select Amex benefits.) That's just one of many ways.
- You may be eligible for as high as 175,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you spend $8,000 in eligible purchases on your new Card in your first 6 months of Card Membership. - $199 CLEAR® Plus Credit: CLEAR® Plus helps get you to your gate faster by using unique facial attributes to verify you are you at 50+ airports nationwide. Receive up to $199 in statement credits per calendar year after you pay for your CLEAR Plus Membership (subject to auto-renewal) with the Platinum Card®.
- Receive either a $120 statement credit every 4 years for a Global Entry application fee or a statement credit up to $85 every 4.5 years for a TSA PreCheck® (through a TSA official enrollment provider) application fee, when charged to your Platinum Card®. Most of the other benefits are discounts or free trials, so they have a pretty limited utility after the first few months of being a member.
Delta SkyMiles for Business could be a decent option for small to medium enterprises based in the U.S. or Canada, as long as your company can spend over $5,000 per year on Delta purchases. The standard membership tier doesn't offer much, but the opportunity to earn Sky Club memberships, miles, and Medallion Status could be worthwhile for some businesses. Plus, it's fairly easy to earn the $50 eCredit for signing up and flying within 90 days.
Our Take
The bottom line is that while the Delta Business Traveler program is a good effort from Delta, only a few individuals will be able to draw value from it. Almost every other business traveler will surpass what Delta's offering. That said, it's good to know that this program exists if you can leverage the free benefits and don't have other means of getting them without jumping through the hoops of joining Delta's program.
