Tis the season to spend and hopefully earn more miles — through online shopping portals. Recently, we reported on the bonuses from American, Alaska, and United, and even more recently on the bonus of up to 1,500 SkyMiles from Delta. United also has another promo offering up to 1,000 United MileagePlus miles.
The offer is valid through the end of December 2016, for shopping through the United MileagePlus Shopping portal. To be eligible for the full amount you need to spend a minimum of $250.
Requirements of the Promotion
The offer is targeted and does not apply to everyone. The key terms are as follows:
- Participants must be members of MileagePlus
- The offer is only open to MileagePlus Chase Cardmembers
- Miles will be credited directly to your United MileagePlus account
- Miles can take up to 8-10 weeks to be credited to your MileagePlus Shopping account
After taking a good look at the rest of the terms and conditions, it is clear that United will probably have to clear up some of their terms and conditions, since after a quick browse the following gems of terms are revealed:
“Offer valid to first-time Shoppers only,” and further along “Each MileagePlus Shopping Mall account is eligible for a maximum of one (1) Bonus Miles reward for this offer.”
Your Mileage May Vary
It is unclear whether you have to be a first-time shopper, or you can only have one MileagePlus account, something United will have to offer some guidance on, to avoid a slew of angry shoppers who fall foul of their somewhat ambiguous terms and conditions! A bit of YMMV, but if you're shopping online and have maxed out other bonuses, this is another way to look possibly pick up some extra miles.
