Ever wanted to earn hotel points with your online betting? You're in luck, because thanks to the Marriott and MGM partnership, those who earn rewards with BetMGM can now convert their points over to Marriott Bonvoy. Let's check out how to link your accounts, the process of transferring your points, and whether it's worth doing so.

How To Link Your Marriott Bonvoy and BetMGM Accounts

To make this work, you'll need both Marriott and BetMGM accounts, which you can create on the Marriott and BetMGM websites. Note that BetMGM isn't available in all states; you'll need to live in a state that allows online gambling to make this work.

Once you have both accounts, you'll need to log into your BetMGM account:

  • Click on your profile in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Select “Account Details.”
  • Click “My Rewards.”
  • Select “Marriott Bonvoy Rewards.”
  • Hit “Link Account.”
  • Sign into your Marriott account.

Once you've completed these steps, your two accounts will be linked. You'll then be able to convert your BetMGM rewards right into Marriott Bonvoy points!

How To Convert BetMGM Points to Marriott Bonvoy Points

The process of converting your rewards is simple. All BetMGM points convert to Marriott at a 1:1 ratio, which means one BetMGM point becomes one Marriott Bonvoy point. Here's how you do it:

  • Log in to your BetMGM account.
  • Select “Account Details.”
  • Click “My Rewards.”
  • Click “Quick Links.”
  • Select “Rewards Store.”
  • Hit “Marriott.”
  • Select “Convert.”

Note that this process can't be done in reverse; Marriott Bonvoy points cannot be transferred over to BetMGM. Once the transaction is completed, you also aren't able to undo it, so you'll want to be certain that this redemption makes sense for you.

How To Earn BetMGM Points

BetMGM points are earned via making wagers through BetMGM, though the amount you'll earn is going to depend on many factors, including:

  • Your elite status level with MGM
  • Wager type
  • Odds
  • Jurisdiction
  • The game you're playing

Is It Worth Converting BetMGM Points to Marriott Bonvoy?

You can now convert those BetMGM points over to Marriott Bonvoy, but is that actually a good idea? One BetMGM point is equivalent to 1¢ and can generally be used as a cash comp to cover redemptions with MGM.

However, recent AwardWallet user redemptions peg a Marriott Bonvoy point at just 0.94¢ each, which means you'll be losing value by converting your points to Marriott.

That being said, there are still some cases where it can make sense to transfer your points. If you have a ton of points, it may not matter to you to lose that little bit of value. BetMGM rewards points also expire after six months of inactivity, so if you've stopped playing or have no use for those points, converting them to Marriott can be a better idea than losing them entirely.

It also can make sense to transfer your points for high-value Marriott redemptions. While the average value is just 0.94¢ each, it's definitely possible to get outsized value from your Marriott points.

Here's an example of a one-night stay at the St. Regis Bora Bora, which will run you 124,000 points for the night:

That same stay would otherwise cost you 420,405 XPF, or roughly $3832.37.

In this case, you'll be getting a value of 3.09 cents per point. That more than justifies a transfer from BetMGM points.

Bottom Line

Marriott and BetMGM have teamed up to allow online betters to convert their rewards to Marriott points. While it's not available to everyone — and not always a good idea — there are cases where doing so can yield great value from your rewards. If nothing else, it's nice to know this feature is available in case it ever proves useful.
