You may have noticed that there have been quite a few shopping portal bonuses lately — even more than usual at this time of year, it feels like. We saw bonuses across American, United, and Alaska in November, from Delta earlier in December, and just last week, a limited and somewhat confusing offer from United (only for MileagePlus Chase Cardmembers and first-time shoppers).

Now, United has come out with another bonus for using its shopping portal. This one is far less limited and much clearer than the last one. It’s also open to all MileagePlus members, not just first-time shoppers, and comes at the perfect time for that last-minute online holiday shopping.

United MileagePlus More Merry More Miles

The Details

  • You must be a MileagePlus member (you can sign up online if you aren’t a member already).
  • Make purchases through United’s online shopping portal to qualify for the bonus.
  • Spend at least $100 through this shopping portal to earn 500 bonus miles. Spend at least $200 through the shopping portal to earn 1,500 miles. (To be clear, the bonuses aren’t cumulative; 1,500 miles is the maximum bonus amount you can earn.)
  • These bonuses are on top of the miles you earn for your purchases. For example, if you spend $250 at a store that offers 1 mile per dollar, you’ll get a total of 1,750 miles (250 for your purchases and 1,500 because you spent over $200).

To take advantage of this offer, make your purchases by 11:59:59 PM ET on December 20, 2016. Be sure to start through United’s shopping portal.

Keep in mind that only your base purchase price qualifies toward the amount you’re spending for the promotion. Taxes and fees don’t count toward the promotional amount, nor does shipping. Cash-equivalent items, such as gift certificates or gift cards, also don’t count toward the amount you’re spending on the promotion.
