Hilton Honors has extended its Status Match Promotion; you can now match up to Hilton Diamond status and retain it through March 31, 2020.
How To Match Your Status
You need to visit the Hilton Status Match page, and supply the following information:
- Your name and email address
- Your Hilton Honors number
- The loyalty program you are matching from and your status level
- Proof of status (image or screenshot of your card or account details)
- Proof of a stay within the last 12 months (image of a hotel receipt or activity on your account)
Once you have submitted your information Hilton will match you for an initial period of 90 days (Hilton does not specify how the various status levels correspond to Hilton status levels). During the 90 days you need to complete the following stays to retain your status through March 31, 2020:
- To retain Gold, you need to complete 4 stays
- To retain Diamond, you need to complete 8 stays
Alternatives For Hilton Status
If your stay and travel pattern will not permit you to complete the challenge, you can still receive complimentary Hilton status via credit card. The following card comes with Complimentary Hilton Diamond status:
Meanwhile, Hilton Honors Gold status is complimentary with the following credit cards:
- Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card (Terms Apply)
- The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card (Terms Apply)
- The The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum® Card from American Express (Terms Apply)
Our Take
Even if you are not a regular at Hilton properties, there are multiple reasons you should consider taking part in this status match challenge. If you can achieve Dimond, then you will be able to pick up an impressive list of perks and benefits on the occasion you do visit Hilton properties — and you can potentially status match it to other programs as well.

I recently did a Hilton status match giving me Diamond through March, 2019, requiring 8 stays to have Diamond for longer than 90 days. Shall I just submit the supporting info again to get the Diamond status through March 2020?
I’d try giving them a call and see if they’ll extend it. If not, try the form.
I just finished a stay at several Hiltons in China, and boy did I love the Diamond treatment. Huge suites, great club lounge experiences, but the only thing I find is that award prices are super inflated in most places outside of China. At least we have the Diamond guarantee for last-minute room space.
Awesome. Thanks for the tip!
It used to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
It sounds like Hilton treats diamonds well. I already have gold through my credit card, so I’m not sure whether it’s worth going for this.
considering there is -0- cost for the first 90 days, time it when you have an upcoming trip and see if you get value out of it.
SO happy that they extended this promotion
thanks!
Are there any data points on whether this is ‘once in a lifetime’, or if one can be matched again, even if having previously participated in a similar promo?
It is not once in a lifetime.
If you are breathing, Hilton will make you a diamond. It really is not fair to those who actually earn the status.
I guess Hilton enjoys giving out status like Candy.
Hilton is not a good chain to be loyal as they hand out top tier status to virtually anyone.
Howie: good idea. I’ll see what I can work out.
@Howie Wow, cool. That’s good to know; thanks!
I first got Hilton gold status a few years ago through a status challenge of 4 nights in 90 days. I felt treated very well as gold and made sure I did 20 stays to keep it the next year. When as gold I got an upgrade to an exceutive room with lounge access it encouraged me to make sure I had enough stays for diamond in future. I have mainatined diamond ever since. That is exactly how I’m sure Hilton hope the status matches or challenges will work for them.
The Hilton status is very valuable.
I have already been matched to Gold 3 or 4 times.
Any inconvenience to apply again?
I guess there is no harm of trying it again. Otherwise, a new account with a different e-mail address is like a new life in these kind of promotions 🙂
By any chance would Award stays count for the 8 stays to retain Diamond? I have a couple of Hilton stays coming up booked with points and it would be nice if they counted. I am Hyatt Globalist until the end of the year.
The terms don’t explicitly state it, but based on experience, it must be a paid stay.
I am going to try to get my status matched as I love the free breakfast and all of Hilton’s perks. Thank you so much for the information!
These status match offers are always highly appreciated.
