The IHG PointBreaks promotion has been extended, please see more details here.
Four times a year, points-savvy travelers wait in anticipation of IHG’s release of its quarterly PointBreaks promotion. This is one of those times: the next release is tomorrow, October 31st, for bookings through January 31, 2017, and the full preview list is already available. When it comes time to book, you'll want to visit the IHG PointBreaks booking page.
Of course, there are catches:
- There are a limited number of nights available per location, so you need to get in on the action quickly or risk missing out altogether.
- You’re only permitted to book two PointBreaks nights per hotel per promotional period, so this isn’t a good choice if you want a long stay using points.
- Finally, and most disappointingly, the preview list for this quarter’s options reveals that very few desirable properties are included.
By far the bulk of the hotels available this quarter are in the United States — and the state with the most hotels on the list is Ohio, with four properties participating. California and Florida (the two most popular states for tourism) have a few properties each, but they aren’t in the most desirable locations. This PointBreaks promotion isn’t going to help you stay in Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, or San Francisco.
Thanks to the lack of particularly exciting options available this quarter, you probably won’t want to plan your dream vacation around this PointBreaks list. However, if you already intend to travel to one of the available destinations between October 31st and January 31st, this can be a great way of getting value from your points.
The promotion starts tomorrow, October 31st. Because the nights available are limited and can sell out quickly, don’t hesitate in making your booking once the promotion is live. Remember, you can always cancel your booking and have your points redeposited to your account.
Are there any properties you're looking to book?
