Ink Unlimited Highlights and Key Benefits

The Ink Unlimited (full review) is a perfect choice for small business owners who like simplicity. It offers a competitive 1.5X points on all purchases while charging $0 annual fee. Despite no annual fee, the card offers key business, travel, and consumer benefits.

Some of the most notable benefits of the Ink Unlimited include:

  • 90,000-point sign-up bonus (worth at least $900)
  • $0 annual fee
  • 0% Intro APR on Purchases for the first 12 months, then a variable rate of 17.49% - 23.49%
  • Employee cards at no additional cost
  • Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase made for your business. That means there's no need to keep track of spending categories.
  • Primary rental car theft and collision damage coverage
  • Purchase protections including 120 days of damage and theft protection and one-year of extended warranty protection

Ink Cash Highlights and Key Benefits

The Ink Cash (full review) offers some of the most valuable spending category bonuses available. Of course, that's provided that these spending categories match your business' spending patterns. Cardholders can earn 5X, 2X, or 1X points per dollar, depending on the purchase:

The caveat is that Chase caps the two bonus categories to the first $25k in combined total spend each account anniversary year. After that, cardmembers earn 1X on every purchase.

Some of the most notable benefits of the Ink Cash include:

  • 90,000-point sign-up bonus (worth at least $900)
  • $0 annual fee
  • Employee cards at no additional cost
  • Huge bonuses in select categories, up to 5X points per dollar
  • Primary rental car theft and collision damage coverage
  • Purchase protections including 120 days of damage and theft protection and one-year of extended warranty protection

Do the Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited earn points or cash back?

The Ink Unlimited and Ink Cash both earn Ultimate Rewards points. However, these points aren't transferrable to Chase's airline and hotel transfer partners unless you combine points with one of several other Ultimate Rewards cards (see below).

If you only hold one of these no-annual-fee Ink business cards, you can redeem for:

  • 1¢ per point — cash back (statement credit or direct deposit), gift cards, and travel booked through the Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal
  • 0.8¢ per point — Amazon purchases

However, Chase allows cardholders to combine points between different accounts—including between business and personal accounts. That means you can transfer the points earned from the Ink Cash or Ink Unlimited welcome offers to Ultimate Rewards partners if you have one of these three cards:

Combining points with one of the above cards will also make your points more valuable for booking travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. Instead of redeeming at 1.0¢ per point, you'll get either 1.25 or 1.50¢ depending on which card you hold. In short, the no-annual-fee Ink business cards (and their bonuses) are even better when paired with another Ultimate Rewards card.

Application Restrictions

Beyond overall creditworthiness, the primary restriction applicants need to contend with is Chase's unpublished 5/24 policy. While you won't find this policy written anywhere now, it temporarily appeared on the application page for the Sapphire Reserve in 2016:

You will not be approved for this card if you have opened 5 or more bank cards in the past 24 months.”

Chase now applies this policy to Ink business cards as well as Chase's personal cards. That means that you'll want to check your 5/24 status to make sure you're under 5/24 before applying. If so, you should be eligible for the Ink Unlimited and the Ink Cash.

Business credit cards generally don't count toward your 5/24 status. As the Ink Unlimited and Ink Cash are both small business cards, opening them won't hurt your 5/24 status for future Chase applications.

Our Take

Earning a 90,000-point (or $900) bonus on a card with no-annual-fee is simply incredible. This is the highest sign-up bonus we've ever seen Chase offer for the Ink Unlimited and Ink Cash. In fact, this is one of the highest sign-up bonuses I've ever seen on ANY Chase no-annual-fee card.

If you're a small business owner and you've been considering one (or both) of these products, now is a great time to apply.

  • If I get one of the Ink Business cards for my business, will I be able to transfer the UR points to my wife’s Sapphire card, if I am an authorized user on her card?

    • That’s a great question that I wanted to take a look into. It seems like you won’t be able to transfer points from your Ink to your wife’s Sapphire card.

I have a similar situation: I have a couple of Ink cards, and my wife has a Sapphire card. And I couldn’t figure out a way to move the points. With that said, I could transfer my Ink points to my wife’s World of Hyatt account, as she is an authorized user on my Ink accounts.

  • Any idea how long the 90,000 bonus will last?
I wanted to take advantage of the bonus categories on the Freedom Flex this quarter before I opened a new card with a minimum spend – but now I’m not sure I should wait since this is such a good offer.

  • I own 4 separate businesses and currently do not have credit cards for any of them. I have done credit card hacking in the past on the personal side and I’m considering using this bonus. My question is this: Does the 5/24 rule apply for businesses and if not, can I get the 90,000 in bonuses for all 4 companies if I meet the minimum spend requirements? Thanks!

    • The 5/24 rule does apply to these business cards. However, signing up for these cards doesn’t add to your 5/24 count. I do not see any restrictions in the terms restricting getting the same card for different businesses. However, you’re probably going to have the best chance if the businesses each have a different EIN.

  • jake williams says:

Where do you get that its 90,000 UR points, everything just says 900$ cash back, I dont see where it comes in the form of points??

    • Chase uses points and cashback rather interchangeably (and confusingly). Technically you earn 90,000 Ultimate Rewards points (T&C: “You will receive 90,000 bonus points with this bonus offer, which can be redeemed for $900 cash back. To qualify and receive your bonus, you must make Purchases totaling $6,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening.”). However, these UR points can’t be transferred to airline/hotel partners unless you have another Chase card that charges an annual fee. Otherwise, these UR points can be redeemed for cashback and other fixed-value redemptions: (“How you can use your points: You can use your points to redeem for any available reward options, including cash, gift cards, travel, and pay with points for products or services made available through the program or directly from third-party merchants. Redemption values for reward options may vary.”)
