Unfortunately, this status match promotion has ended. Hopefully it'll return next year!

JetBlue has announced their yearly Mosaic promotion, where you can match your elite status with another airline for Mosaic membership; alternatively, if you don’t have elite status with another airline you can take part in the Mosaic challenge and earn yourself Mosaic status all the way through to December 31, 2018. The promotion runs through August 14, 2017.

The Status Match

To qualify for a status match, you will need to be a TrueBlue member, and also have one of the following statuses with these airlines:

  • Virgin America – Elevate Silver or Gold
  • Alaska Airlines – Mileage Plan MVP Gold or MVP Gold 75k
  • American Airlines – AAdvantage Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Executive Platinum
  • Delta – SkyMiles Silver, Gold, Platinum or Diamond Medallion
  • Southwest Airlines- Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred or Companion Pass
  • United- MileagePlus Premier Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Premier 1K

If you meet the above criteria, you will be awarded Mosaic status, which will run through December 31, 2017. You will also be enrolled in the Mosaic challenge, which will let you extend your status until the end of 2018. Allow two weeks for the status match, and you will need to provide JetBlue with proof of your status; such as your monthly statement or your membership card.

The Mosaic Status Challenge

The Status Challenge is open to everyone; all you need to take part is be a member of the TrueBlue Program. The points of the challenge are as follows:

  • You must start the challenge by August 14, 2017
  • You will need to earn 3,750 base points within 90 days of starting the challenge
  • Base points are earned at a ratio of 3 points per dollar spent (excluding taxes and fees)

What this effectively means is that you can buy Mosaic for $1,250 spent on Jet Blue fares. Considering how valuable Mosaic status can be and some of the great perks it comes with, this is not a bad deal especially if you are a regular with JetBlue but just don’t quite fly enough to qualify for Mosaic.

Our Take

This promotion, which now seems to be a yearly affair (we're convinced of this as there is a 2016 typo on the registration page), is an excellent option for picking up Mosaic status. With excellent perks, it is a great option to have Elite status even if you don’t fly JetBlue enough to earn it through the standard requirements. Diverting one or two trips to meet the status challenge requirements could be more than worth it. Especially when you consider JetBlue expanding its Mint service, and even considering expanding its route network to Europe.
