While JetBlue lacks the network depth of legacy airline competitors, its TrueBlue frequent flyer program offers great value for a revenue-based loyalty plan. You can redeem TrueBlue points on any JetBlue flight with paid seats available, and achieve a steady 1.3/1.6¢ return for your points every day of the week. Redeeming your TrueBlue points is easy when compared to the majority of US airline programs where award availability is often the biggest issue.
JetBlue also offers one of the best domestic in-flight products to grace North American shores. Comfy seats, top service, free snacks, and the fantastic Mint premium product have boosted JetBlue's reputation with frequent flyers, and both the airline and the rewards program are increasingly popular.
In this post, we’re going to break down the best ways to earn JetBlue TrueBlue points, so you can experience more of JetBlue’s fantastic in-flight product, without the out-of-pocket expense.
Earn TrueBlue Points with the Barclaycard JetBlue Cards
UPDATE: The offer for the JetBlue Card is expired. You can find the best current offers on the Hot Deals page.
The fastest way of earning TrueBlue points is via the three co-brand JetBlue rewards cards offered by MasterCard.
- JetBlue Card – Earn 10,000 points after spending $1,000 in first 90 days – No annual fee
- JetBlue Plus Card – Earn 30,000 points after spending $1,000 in 90 days – $99 annual fee
- JetBlue Business Card – Earn 30,000 points after $1,000 in purchases during first 90 days – $99 annual fee
In addition to 30K bonus points, JetBlue Plus Card members earn 5,000 bonus points on account anniversary every year, earn 6 points per $1 on JetBlue purchases, 2 points per $1 at restaurants and grocery stores and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases, and you won't pay foreign transaction fees. You can also score Mosaic elite status by spending $50K per year on the card.
The JetBlue Plus Card and JetBlue Business Card share almost identical earning categories and benefits, the only difference being the business version earns 2x points on restaurants and office supply stores as opposed to grocery stores.
The no annual fee JetBlue Card earns 10K bonus points, not bad for a card that doesn’t carry an annual fee, earns 3x points per $1 on JetBlue purchases, 2x points per $1 at restaurants and grocery stores, and 1 point per $1 on all other purchases. The JetBlue Card also charges no foreign transaction fees, again, rare for a no annual fee card.
Take Advantage of Amex Membership Rewards Transfers
American Express Membership Rewards transfer to TrueBlue at a ratio of 250:200. If you transfer 1,000 MR points, you’ll receive 800 TrueBlue points. The conversion rate is not the best, but if you need to top off an account, or you can take advantage of category bonuses offered by many Membership Rewards earning cards, JetBlue transfers offer a palatable option for domestic airfare. Members can also take advantage of occasional transfer bonuses from Membership Rewards to TrueBlue. The latest, a 25% transfer bonus that made the point values even, was back in May 2017.

Transfer Points from Citi ThankYou Rewards
Similar to Membership Rewards transfers, Citi ThankYou Points transfer to JetBlue at a reduced rate. The rate for premium cards like the Citi Prestige® Card is the same as MR transfers at 1,000:800, but there is a different transfer ratio for the low annual fee Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card which transfers at a ratio of 1,000 TY points to 500 TrueBlue points, not the best use of your Citi rewards. Citi also offers regular transfer bonuses as high as 50% when converting ThankYou Points.
Transfer Points from Chase Ultimate Rewards
Added on August 26, 2018, you can transfer Ultimate Rewards at a 1:1 ratio in 1,000-point increments to JetBlue TrueBlue. Similar to how we'd consider transferring points to Southwest Rapid Rewards, as TrueBlue is a revenue-based rewards program, we'd leverage transfers when it makes sense to top off an account for an award and probably nothing else.
Earn Points Flying JetBlue and Airline Partners
JetBlue awards a ton of miles when you stick within its ecosystem. Flying JetBlue you can earn:
- 3x points per $1 on the base fare and Mint fares
- Additional 1-2 points per $1 on Blue Plus and Blue Flex fares respectively
- 3x points if fare is purchased on JetBlue.com
Taking into account the 6 points per $1 you earn with the JetBlue Plus Card, you could earn 12+ points per $1 spent on JetBlue airfare! That's an exceptional value and hammers home a point we made last month when discussing the best cards to pay for airfare. The JetBlue Plus Card is one of the few co-brand credit cards to beat out the flexible points-earning cards when paying for airfare on its corresponding airline.
You’ll also score an additional 200 points when purchasing an ‘Even More Space’ seat, 300 points when flying with your pet, and 6 points per $1 spent on JetBlue Getaways.
Not being a member of any alliance, JetBlue’s airline partners are an odd mix that includes Singapore, Emirates, Hawaiian, and Icelandair. You can earn points across any of JetBlue’s partners by inserting your TrueBlue membership number into your booking, but it’s worth calculating where you’ll get the most value crediting your miles, with JetBlue or elsewhere.
Earn More with Mosaic Status
If you earn Mosaic Status with JetBlue, you receive an instant 15,000 point bonus and gain an additional 3 points per $1 spent on JetBlue fares. Combined with the base points, additional points from booking on JetBlue.com, and the miles from the JetBlue Plus Card, Mosaic members can earn more than 15 points per $1!
JetBlue Shopping Portal, Dining Program, and Other Partners
Like the majority of airline rewards programs, JetBlue offers a shopping portal called Shop True Mall where you can earn additional points on purchases you already intended to make. Shopping portals effectively let you double dip and earn extra points for a purchase by clicking through the shopping portal before you order items from partners.
Likewise, you can boost your points balance with JetBlue’s dining program, JetBlue Dining. Mosaic members earn 2 points per $1 and all other members 1 point per $1 at over 11,000 restaurants worldwide.
If dining out isn’t your thing, you can also earn TrueBlue points with over 40 retail partners. One of the most lucrative retail partners is Amazon, with TrueBlue members earning 3x points per $1 spent on eligible Amazon purchases. You can also earn points when you link your JetBlue and Lyft accounts, and use the service on-route to the airport.
Earn Points by Achieving … Badges?
That’s right, badges. You can earn additional TrueBlue points by completing simple tasks and earning badges. This could involve something as simple as linking your JetBlue account to Facebook or Twitter, or something slightly more arduous such as visiting a set number of JetBlue destinations. You don’t earn a lot of points for each badge, but with over 300 badges to collect it can add up to a substantial number of points.
Combine Points with Family Pooling
And finally, if you’ve run out of methods to earn your own points, you can always lean on family members to collect the points you need for that big holiday. JetBlue restricts family pooling to 2 adults and up to 5 children, but it’s a great way of sharing signup bonuses and points with a spouse. Plus, it helps make sure those points your kids earn don't sit in an account that just can't seem to grow big enough for a TrueBlue redemption.
Final Thoughts
JetBlue offers numerous ways of earning TrueBlue points through partners, portals, transfer partners, and credit cards. The program is weighted heavily in favor of members that stick within the JetBlue ecosystem, with Mosaic members able to earn in excess of 15 points per dollar spent on JetBlue airfare, a significant return on your spend. The JetBlue Plus Card and its business counterpart offer a fast method to accumulate a sizeable stack of JetBlue points, enough that you’ll be well on your way to redeeming JetBlue’s premium Mint cabin in no time! If JetBlue is your airline of choice and you don't have one of their co-brand credit cards you're really missing out.

Also we can exchange jet blue true blue points to other milages program such as aeroplan or delta in points.com for people they don’t use them.
Points by JebBlue Expire?
No, they do not.
My first flight on jet blue, and the crew were fantastic
I’ve been impressed with JetBlue. Hope to see them expand their network soon.
I like Jetblue quite a bit. I even do the pointsforsurveys and jetopinions surveys for more jetblue points.
It’s nice to be able to earn TrueBlue points when shopping on amazon just by clicking through their link. I didn’t know about earning points for badges, I will have to check it out.
I will check the Badges option!
They just announced they are adding a dozen more seats into their new planes. Still average of 32″ pitch, but losing the 34″ average.
The amazon 3x points is awesome though. I run all office purchases through it and have cleaned up on 15k points this year for reimbursed expenses.
I did not know that you can earn points on badges.
Being based in Europe, Jetblue is not attracting such as Alaska because there are not a lot of airline partners.
Otherwise could be a good choice.
Although JetBlue doesn’t currently fly to any of my local airports, the fact that we can earn points for Amazon purchases makes it a worthwhile program for almost anyone.
I’ve flown them in the past and they do have a great product. They have always had a policy of not overbooking flights (even before the recent famous fiascos) so I hope they continue to expand.
I came across some tweets about Jetblue and could not understand why people were doing it? Now I know – they were collecting badges.
Another great article here,I also didn’t know about pooling points with family members.
Being in SF JetBlue isn’t the best airline for me, but the Amazon deal is amazing! I will gladly connect somewhere for the points I gain!
jetblue planes are much more enjoyable.
love Jetblue program and airline, great seats, flights and employees, even the jetblue credit card is great, love the bonus of $100 credit when booking a vacation with them once a year.
And the points don’t expire!
I like the idea of family pooling similar to British Airways Avios.
Can JetBlue miles be redeemed for partner flights? I like the Amazon deal, but the NY/Boston focus makes them hard to use if you fly out of a different east coast hub. I keep hoping they’re still in acquisition mode after losing out on Virgin America, and they buy Frontier, expanding their routes dramatically.
Other than for JetBlue flights, the only airline that you can currently redeem TrueBlue points for is Hawaiian: . You can earn with others (like Emirates) but cannot redeem with them.
Thanks for the tips!
JetBlue remains one of the pioneers I believe in effectively courting miles users and offering a solid product at a decent price. Hopefully that stays true.
The pooling is definitely neat!
I didn’t know you could pool JetBlue points among family members.
Now I know…lol
Thanks for the post!
JetBlue is second only to Alaska. The Amazon integration is a nice bonus.
I received an email from jetblue this week inviting me to join a survey panel called JetOpinions. I’m also a member of PointsForSurveys which awards JetBlue points.
We took some JetBlue flights recently and were very pleased with the service and no overbooking. They even allowed a free change to a leave earlier flight. I am sold.
The JetBlue Plus card has a 40,000 bonus promotion througu January 2018. And, that world very nicely with the family pooling program.
When Badges was new, I was able to earn almost 20,000 TrueBlue points just through simple tasks on social media like tweetings something. Now, you can earn only a few hundred points easily. But it’s still free.
I’ve heard great things about JetBlue unfortunately being in DFW its of very limited use. Might grab the cards later on but definitely not a priority for me.
It seems that Jetblue is very generous lately.
I love JetBlue, especially the family pooling. The ability to earn points with Amazon is making me target them for more of our future plans.
