Earn bonus Marriott points through this Amex promotion

Our Take

This is a nice promotion to get some bonus Marriott points with your Marriott Bonvoy Amex or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Card — as long as you're one of the members who were targeted.

If you have a Chase card rather than an Amex card, make sure to check out our article on Chase's co-branded credit cards promotions. You can earn up to 10X points on Marriott stays plus 5X on travel and gas purchases — up to a combined $1,500 maximum spend. While those promotions aren't targeted, you don't have long to take advantage of them. Those promotions expire on August 15, 2021.

Also, don't forget that you can earn 10X Marriott points at Marriott Homes & Villas on both Chase and Amex co-branded cards. This promotion runs through December 31, 2021.

  • I do not use my Marriott card too often. I find that earning UR and MR points better right now. I do have a Chase card. I wonder how many people have the different hotel cards for the status? It can be a good stack on earning points for Marriott, when they have a good promo.

    • I have the Aspire for the benefits. I only use it on Hilton charges or if I get a good Amex offer. I have a better card for any category outside of Hilton.

  • I didn’t get targeted but not sure I would take advantage of it anyway. I have others card that do well in the travel and gas category already.

  • AMEX is really banking on the “recovery play” with this card.
