Mastercard Scaling Back, Then Ending, DoorDash and HelloFresh Benefits

Mastercard holders who are fans of food delivery services have a couple of benefits they should be taking advantage of. The bad news is that these benefits are going away later this year.

Currently, Mastercard offers benefits with DoorDash and HelloFresh. Unfortunately, Mastercard is eliminating both of these as of September 2022, and the DoorDash benefit will be reduced pretty soon. These are the details.

Mastercard Reducing — Then Ending — DoorDash Benefit

For over a year now, Mastercard World and World Elite cardholders with a DashPass membership received a $5 discount on their first two orders each month. On April 11, 2022, Mastercard will reduce this benefit to just one $5 discount per month. Then, Mastercard will end this promotion altogether at the end of September 2022.

If you're not already a member of DoorDash, Mastercard extended its promotion for a free three-month DashPass membership to September 30, 2022. After the trial period, members will be charged $9.99 each month. DashPass membership benefits only apply to DoorDash orders of $12 or more.

Alternately, you can still get a free DashPass membership if you're a Chase co-branded cardholder. That promotion was originally set to expire on September 30, 2021. It has been extended two times and now is valid all the way through 2024.

Mastercard to End HelloFresh Benefit

Mastercard World and World Elite cardholders can also get 5% back on HelloFresh orders. This benefit is earned as a credit that can be applied to future orders. This promotion is also ending on September 30, 2022.

Terms and Conditions

• Credits provided through this offer will be cumulative (i.e., may be combined with other credits when being applied to future purchases) and will not expire, so long as the eligible cardholder maintains an active HelloFresh account.
• Credits may be earned on discounted purchases, but credits may not be applied to purchases in combination with other discounts.
• Offer valid only toward meal plan; does not apply to gift cards, premiums, meal upgrades, add-ons, taxes, or shipping fees.

Our Take

Terms and conditions always state that promotions can be amended or canceled at any time, and this is a great example. If you've been taking advantage of the two $5 discounts with DoorDash each month on your Mastercard, you'll get one more chance to do so. On April 11, 2022, the benefit will be reduced to a single discount. After September 30, 2022, the benefit is going away completely.
