Avianca LifeMiles is now offering loyalty members the ability to “Multiply your Miles” through December 21, 2023. This offer lets members receive up to a 61% bonus when multiplying their miles — or 67% off when using a LifeMiles credit card. This offer lets you double or triple your miles accrued during the last 12 months with LifeMiles credit or debit cards, Avianca flights, or LifeMiles commercial partners. You could pay as little as 1.05¢ per mile.
You will need to have qualifying activity in your LifeMiles account over the last 12 months to take advantage of this promotion. If that's you, let's dive into some of the details of this promotion to see if it can make sense to pay to multiply your LifeMiles.
Avianca LifeMiles “Multiply Your Miles” Promotion Details
It's always nice when hotels and airlines get in the holiday mood by providing nice promotions. That's one of the great things about this time of the year!
This offer states that only members who earn miles on flights operated under Avianca's commercial code, have made transactions with their Avianca LifeMiles credit or debit card, and/or have earned miles with commercial partners of “Shopping with LifeMiles” and “Travel Partners” are eligible for this promotion. Note that this does not include any activity with LifeMiles Hotels.
Thus, even if you select all activity types, you may see a blank page. That means you don't have any LifeMiles eligible to be multiplied.

That's a lot to unpack, so let's get down to brass tacks.
As I briefly mentioned above, one of the annoying things about this promotion is the price per mile is not entirely clear. Here's how the math shakes out.
- You can multiply earnings from Shopping with LifeMiles, Travel Partners, and Avianca flights at the following rates when paying with non-LifeMiles credit or debit cards:
- 100–1,000 miles: 1.57¢
- 1,001+ miles: 1.24¢ to 1.57¢
- For payments with an Avianca LifeMiles cobranded credit or debit card, the prices per mile are:
- 100–1,000 miles: 1.34¢ (including the additional 15% discount)
- 1,001+ miles: 1.05¢ to 1.34¢ (including the additional 15% discount)
For prices with a range, the terms and conditions state that “the exact price per mile will appear when the member selects the total amount of miles to be purchased.” You can use our rubric to guide you, but make sure the price you see at checkout matches and ensure you're happy with it before completing your purchase.

Is This Deal Worth It?
As always, we don't recommend buying points and miles speculatively, so it's only a good deal if you have a plan in mind for using them. Of course, it's always a good deal if you can buy miles at a low price and then redeem them at a higher value. Check out some of our LifeMiles sweet spots to get some ideas of how you can take advantage of this promotion for a trip you might want to take.
It's worth pointing out that this definitely could be a solid deal depending on which category you can take advantage of and the number of miles you end up acquiring. For example, the most recent offer to buy Avianca LifeMiles with a bonus had a cost of 1.25¢ per mile — which is in the ballpark of the above ranges. Keep in mind too, that the bonus applies to the regular LifeMiles purchase rate of 3.3¢ each. When you look at it that way, you could be saving up to 67% off the normal value in certain situations.
So if you're just a smidge short of LifeMiles for an upcoming award redemption, this can certainly be a good deal. If you were considering paying cash for a ticket and the cost of acquiring LifeMiles through this promotion is cheaper, then it definitely makes sense to spend less money buying the miles than paying the normal cash rate.
Bottom Line
Offering a “Multiply your Miles” promotion is something we've seen with other programs before. Take Air France and KLM's joint loyalty program Flying Blue, for example: Flying Blue has offered a similar promotion to multiply miles several times.
As with any promotion, it all boils down to the rate you're getting and the plan you have in mind for using the points or miles. In this case, this Avianca LifeMiles “Multiply your Miles” promotion can certainly be worth it depending on your account, the category you're taking advantage of, and the amount of LifeMiles you plan on grabbing. But when you consider that the base rate for buying LifeMiles is 3.3¢ each, any price you get for your LifeMiles in this promotion will be pretty good value in comparison. Unfortunately for most of our readers, the best prices are reserved for those with LifeMiles credit cards that are only available outside the U.S.
