Realizing IHG’s announcement in late 2017, you can now book Kimpton properties using IHG Rewards. In light of the recent price hike of IHG redemptions, this is good news, since it adds a portfolio of over 60 boutique hotels to the IHG property list, increasing your choice and options.

What Are The Prices?

As expected with the quality of Kimpton properties, rooms have been priced between 40,000 and 70,000 points per night. And while 70,000 points may be on the steep side for some properties, the mid-priced properties can offer solid value and an exciting option when compared to nearby high-end IHG hotels.

Take for instance San Francisco; if you are looking for a couple of nights stay in a high-quality property, you will now end up paying 140,000 points after IHG hiked the price of a stay in the InterContinental San Francisco, and the InterContinental Mark Hopkins San Francisco to 70,000 points per night.

You may want to consider staying at the Kimpton Buchanan or the Kimpton Sir Francis Drake, which would set you back 55,000 per night or 110,000 points for both nights.

Kimpton SFO Properties

Switching your stay to one of these Kimpton properties would save you 30,000 points over the two-night stay.

Our Take

Coming a week after IHG hiked award pricing this is good news. It doesn't soften the blow of the price hike, but at least we've got access to more high-end properties at less than the highest possible price.
