Don't have IHG Platinum Elite status?

Sandwiched in between Gold and Spire Elite, IHG offers several different paths to Platinum. To qualify for Platinum via traditional methods typically requires 40 nights or 40,000 elite-qualifying points, a substantial investment to reach either number.

The fastest and easiest way to Platinum Elite status is through the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card; simply be being a cardmember you receive the status. Another benefit of the IHG Rewards Card is a 10% rebate on award redemptions, up to a maximum of 100,000 points per year. So, for this Points & Cash promotion; IHG Select cardholders would receive:

  • A 12% discount on the cash portion
  • Earn 20 rewards points per dollar if paying with the card (10 base points + 50% bonus for Platinum status + 5 bonus points for IHG Rewards Card)
  • A 10% rebate on the points redeemed.

Cardholders can also take advantage of the best free anniversary night of any credit card we have reviewed, redeemable at any IHG hotel worldwide, with no date restrictions. Check out our full review of the IHG Rewards Card.

Final Thoughts

Receiving 12% off the cash portion of a Points & Cash stay on its own won't be enough for me to switch any nights to IHG. But when combined with the 10% rebate on redeemed points for IHG Rewards Card account holders, and earning 20 points per/$1 spent if paying with the IHG Rewards Card, the offer starts to look more compelling.

If you're an IHG Rewards Platinum Elite member with stays yet to book for Fall travel, jump over to the IHG website and see if you can book a bargain Points & Cash stay.
