Our Take
If you are looking for a quick getaway for some winter sun in the southern hemisphere, then this promotion is an outstanding value—especially if you are looking to fly in economy. 40,000 miles roundtrip from the US to Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific is an absolute bargain! The deal in business class is also good; however, the discount is not as deep as with economy awards. It's also almost impossible to find business class awards on Fiji Airways, so you'll need maximum flexibility to make it work. Arguably the most challenging part will be choosing your destination since all three options are excellent.

Fiji Air is the hidden gateway to Australia and New Zealand. Google homestays on the islands
Well this is disappointing – Fiji Airways flies from Wellington, NZ (where I live) to Nadi often, but I can’t see how to book this using the award chart: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mileage-plan/use-miles/award-charts.
From New Zealand only gives me Asia, USA + Canada, Mexico and the Carribean. 🙁
It’s worth noting that Fiji Airways limits economy passengers to just one piece of checked baggage @ 23kg. Probably not an issue for many/most folks, but worth noting I think, for those who might be used to traveling with two checked bags. (Business passengers receive two pieces of checked baggage). So, be advised!
wow, i need a vacation 🙂
Great deal!
The 40k for business to New Zealand is great. I’m accumulating Alaska Air miles now. Hope it comes back once I’ve got enough collected.
I heard that Fiji is really good… this might be the opportunity to try it out!
Good deal if you can find award space.
Never flown Alaska…do they have a good reputation?
The flights are actually through Fiji Airways, but I do like Alaska alot. I’ve never traveled with Fiji Airways but I heard decent things about them.
Does the BoA Alaska Biz card count against 5/24?
I believe it does not. To my knowledge, the only business cards that affect your 5/24 status are issued by Capital One, Discover, and TD Bank.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Fiji, so this promo is interesting.
This is a great deal that I hope to cash in on!
Business award space seems difficult to find!
This is a perfect use of my Alaska miles. Now if only I could find the business class award space!
I love this! I don’t recall AS doing this but I’m sure it’s morning brain fuzziness. I can see why people like Alaska miles so much. That really is a good deal. I like flying Alaska. I have their card and will enjoy using their miles soon.
I love that their companion tickets you do not have to complete travel by the expiration date.
I’m having a hard time finding business class availability.
Too bad I can’t take advantage of the promotion due to the lack of seat availability…
The A330 business class is a very disappointing product / experience. Just go with economy class if you cannot score the A350 business class awards.
Thanks for your A330 review from direct experience. Such sharing is great aspect of AW.
Any limitation on travel period?
It seems the only limitation is booking by end of February.
We didn’t see any published limitations. Please let us know if you find out where the travel window ends.
80000-mile round trip business class award to Sydney onboard the brand-new A350 is a good deal.
Fiji airways has some good biz products to try out, good promo.
Love using alaska miles. So much value!
This sounds enticing. Alaska offers free stop overs on many of it’s partners, would be a great way to get to either New Zealand or Australia on the same itinerary.
40k to Australia is a great deal
Just tried every itinerary and there was nothing in business
Same here, and I tried when it was initially announced. Too bad, because it was potentially very valuable.
Flights to the South Pacific are usually quite expensive. This is a great deal!
