Although this sale runs through June 29, 2026, you'll want to act fast to confirm availability. Here's everything you need to know about Iberia's Avios award sale.
Fly To or From Europe for as Few as 9,600 Iberia Avios
Iberia's latest award promotion offers a straightforward deal: 40% off economy awards between Madrid and select U.S. gateways. This sale applies to flights between Madrid (MAD) and Boston (BOS), New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), and Washington, D.C. (IAD).
That simplicity is worth noting. Iberia award sales are often frustratingly inconsistent, with different discounts by route, cabin, direction, and even departure city. This time, the promotion is much easier to understand: eligible economy awards between Madrid and the four listed U.S. airports are all exactly 40% off.
Because Iberia uses a distance-based award chart, these routes price predictably. All four eligible U.S. routes fall into the same 3,001–4,000-mile distance band, where economy awards normally cost:
- 16,000 Avios one-way on off-peak dates
- 19,500 Avios one-way on peak dates
With the 40% discount, that drops pricing to:
- 9,600 Avios one-way on off-peak dates
- 11,700 Avios one-way on peak dates
The catch is that much of the eligible travel window falls during Iberia's peak pricing calendar. So while the 9,600-Avios price is possible, you'll likely find more dates pricing at 11,700 Avios — especially for summer travel. Still, that's an excellent rate for a nonstop transatlantic flight, particularly after Iberia's award chart devaluation last year.

How to Book an Award Flight Through Iberia
To take advantage of this promotion, you'll want to visit Iberia's website, log in to your account, and enter your flight details.
Iberia's website is notoriously finicky, so be patient if you don't see any availability — you might just need to change your dates. The discount will automatically be reflected in the advertised fare, so you don't need to do anything special to book a sale award.
Here's what this looks like. You can fly from Boston, New York, or Washington to Madrid for as few as 9,600 Avios:
You'll find the best availability at these rates in the second half of September. However, even if you book a last-minute getaway to spend July in Madrid, 11,700 Avios for a transatlantic flight isn't anything to scoff at:

Are any of these Level flights? I thought Iberia long-haul into BCN was mostly Level.
I remember the last time Iberia had that promotion, AMEX had a transfer bonus to BA, which can be transfer to Iberia, so rates were even lower.
This is so cheap promo from US to Europe. But not want to go out during this period. Walk around should be fine.
It seems to me that IB has much a harder time to fill its seats than BA.
I don’t like Avios FFP. Expensive YQ fee for us. or your account will be closed if they think it’s not normal without any notice. You have to call BA customer and talk many times. The AA was much more better than that.

Interesting offer., for those who collect avios. The fact is that as the post remind us due to Covid 19 there are many restrictions between those countries , NYC is asking for quarantine and Madrid too plus is for winter period . But tempting . Thanks for posting

I have seen a lot of promos for less dollars and less miles to fly here and there and it’s at first a happy feeling and then I remember covid.
With all the requirements it’s just too much to try and fly to Europe. I am hoping that next summer there will be something to make it easier to travel to Europe. I am hoping to see my in laws without all the fanfare.

Very difficult to predict if we would be able to travel in March 21! The deal is amazing but the situation is so unpredictable I highly doubt anybody would take advantage of this.
