This IHG Points Purchase promotion has ended, however, you can still purchase IHG points.

IHG has announced a promotion where you will receive a 100% bonus on IHG points purchases. The promotion runs through November 30, 2018, and to receive a 100% bonus you will need to purchase a minimum of 7,000 points. Taking advantage of this promotion means you would be purchasing IHG points for half a cent apiece.

Key Terms

  • Promotion is valid through November 30, 2018, 11:59 PM ET
  • Receive a 100% bonus when you purchase 7,000 points or more
  • You can purchase up to 100,000 points per calendar year
  • Allow 72 hours for the points to post to your account

If you wish to maximize the promotion, you can purchase 100,000 IHG points for $1,000. You will receive a total of 200,000 points (100,000 points + 100,000 points bonus). This works out as half a cent apiece, which is about as good as it gets when buying IHG points.

IHG point purchases are processed by points.com, not by IHG; this eliminates the chance to earn a bonus from category spending from your credit card. If you decide to take advantage of the promotion, your best option is to use a card optimized for everyday spending.

Our Take

If you have an immediate use for your points, then this promotion could work for you. With no immediate use in mind, you are better off leaving this promotion on the table since IHG holds these 100% bonus promotions regularly including October 2018 and September 2018.
