Flying Blue New Promo Awards available every month

Not a Lot of Options for North America

The April promotion, much like the March 2017 Flying Blue Promotion, is not particularly generous when it comes to North America, with only Boston and Mexico covered by the promotion; each offering a 25% discount. Flights will cost 46,875 miles one way and 93,750 miles round trip, with bookings made by April 30, 2017. On the positive side, the offer does cover the summer vacation season, when prices are normally sky-high, with travel dates for this promotion from June 1 through July 30, 2017.

April 2017 Flying Blue Promo Awards North America

Interestingly and unlike previous months, there are no discounts for Economy fares; you can only receive discounts for travel this summer on Business class fares from North America.

Other Destinations

Traveling further afield you can find some good discounts from Flying Blue; not surprisingly with Flying Blue being a European-based rewards program most of these are from Europe to other destinations. Considering the period of the promo at the height of the summer travel season, it is no surprise that this time around there are no deep 50% discounts. The most generous you will find is a 25% bonus. Some highlights of the discounted routes this summer include:

  • Europe to Beijing/China
  • Europe to Shanghai/China
  • Europe to Hong Kong/China
  • Europe to Dakar/Senegal
  • Europe to Havana/Cuba

Important Points To Remember

  • Book your flights by April 30, 2017, to receive the discounts.
  • You need to make your reservations through AirFrance.com or KLM.com; bookings cannot be made over the phone.
  • Promo Awards cannot be changed, canceled or refunded.
  • Flying Blue offers Promo Awards for both one-way and round-trip flights

Flying Blue Miles Transfer Partners

Final Thoughts

The monthly Promo Awards can be a touch hit and miss for high-value redemptions but this month has a few gems if you’re flying to the right destinations. Head over to Flying Blue and check out if you can put this month's Promo Awards to good use.

  • This is terrific info…I had no idea this program existed, but I’ve been looking for a flight to France during the promo period and this may be a really good solution. Thanks!

  • citi is also offering a bonus to some card members transferring thank you points. we received a 50% bonus offer on transfers.

  • Agreed that these offers are not particularly valuable in a vacuum, but the fact that it’s during the busy summer season is a big plus. Any idea how much availability there is on flights to Europe?

  • This is by far their weakest Promo Award ever. Nothing interesting there at all

  • Wish I’d known about Promo Awards much earlier! Also fantastic that you can transfer from so many transferable points programs.

However, I recently read that Flying Blue was canceling accounts for folks that transferred points into the program. Is this issue now resolved?

  • For economy seat, flying blue don’t have a lot of promotion during this time frame.
