The Flying Blue Promo awards for August 2017 are now up and running. The monthly promo awards with Flying Blue can provide great value, offering discounts of up to 50% on award bookings. This month’s promotion is valid for bookings made between August 1, and August 31, 2017. The award bookings are in most cases valid for flights between October 1, and November 30, 2017. Although there are some minor variances with a few destinations only being valid in October, and a couple only valid in November; make sure to double check the valid travel dates for your destination before booking.

Limited Options for North America

With only one North American/US destination available, New York (JFK), the promo isn't the greatest. Especially since the only option is economy class awards, which will run you 18,750 miles one way or 37,500 miles round trip.

Other Destinations

If you have other destinations in mind and are based in Europe, then there are some great discounts to be had with this month’s Flying Blue Promo awards. • Europe to Cayenne/ French Guiana
  • Europe to Johannesburg/ South Africa (At only 75,000 miles in business class this is a great price)
  • Europe to Accra/ Ghana
  • Europe to Cotonou/ Benin
  • Europe to Ho Chi Minh/ Vietnam

Our Take

The monthly Flying Blue promo awards can be a little hit and miss. The North American routes this month are a miss, especially if you are looking for premium cabin redemptions. On the other hand, if you are heading to the right destination and are based in Europe, there is still some great value to be had.

  • I was able to take advantage of this deal a few months ago for ORD-CDG.
Appreciated the discount in miles although the fuel surcharge almost made up the discounted amount of miles!

  • Jimmie Lin says:

No love for Asia this round. Another devaluation?

  • you don’t see French Guiana deals very often!

  • I do not live in New York area so I will not be taking advantage of this promotion.

  • While I prefer premium seating, I’m not against economy for a good deal. Thank you!

  • Perhaps I am not the best at Flying Blue, but I seem to have a tough time finding actual business class award space (let alone discounted promos).

Usually aiming for West Coast USA / Canada to Europe. . .

  • Jacqueline parsons says:

IMO they have really limited the redemption possibilities within this latest offer. A window of only one month to book and a similar window to fly, however I’m sure some will find good value out of this.

  • Disappointing that JFK is the only North American gateway, this time around.

  • angelo fonseca says:

Although the only option for the United States, the offer for the Paris-NYC route is excellent.

  • Love that there are so many options for transfer partners.

  • jason picker says:

Super deal for business class to South Africa.
Hope the availability isnt too limited

  • Can you separatly by a paid infant ticket in combination with these tickets?

    • I’ve not personally tried it (no infant), however, given that you have to book these awards online and you’d need to book an infant over the phone unless you can add an infant while going through the check out process, I’m not sure. In theory, if you booked these and then called to add an infant that *should* work, but I cannot confirm one way or the other.

      • Thanks!

Yes, that’s how it in theory should work… however my experience with KLM tell’s me otherwise. Anyone being able to confirm adding infant booking separately being possible?

  • Waiting for another round of offers which suit me more.
Probably in automn there will be nice promos.

  • Europe to South Africa for 75k in Premium is decent deal. Regretfully nothing from North America really jumps out at me. Maybe next quarter

  • Albert Artes says:

Really wish I can take advantage of this. Have a lot of Southwest points so might burn some of my Southwest points to get myself to NYC and then fly to Paris from there.
