With Mother's Day approaching, you might be thinking about ordering flowers online — and, of course, earning rewards with your favorite credit card when you pay for those pricey bouquets.

But did you know you can maximize your rewards even more? By shopping through a rewards portal or taking advantage of credit card offers, you can stack up even more points on your flower purchase.

Let’s explore the best ways to earn extra rewards on your Mother's Day flower order.

Use Shopping Portals to Earn More Rewards on Flower Purchases

Shopping portals offer a simple way to boost your rewards or cashback when shopping online. When you visit a retailer’s website through a shopping portal and make a purchase, the store pays the portal a commission. In return, the portal passes a portion of that commission back to you through cashback, points, or miles.

A portal aggregator like Cashback Monitor can help you find the best rewards. Simply search for the merchant, and it will display available bonus rates. However, some portals, like Capital One Shopping, do not appear in these aggregators, so you’ll need to check them separately.

Florists Available on Shopping Portals

Many major online florists participate in shopping portals, but the reward rates change frequently. Below are some of the best options available at the time of writing:

American Airlines AAdvantage Shopping Portal

When shopping through the AAdvantage eShopping portal, you can earn American Airlines miles and even Loyalty Points toward elite status. Here are the florists currently available through this portal:

  • Flowershopping.com
  • Flowers by UrbanStems
  • FTD.com
  • FromYouFlowers.com
  • Teleflora
  • Florists.com
  • ProFlowers
  • SendFlowers.com
  • 1-800-Flowers.com
  • The Bouqs

Of these, the highest reward when I searched was with Florists.com, which offered 15X miles per dollar spent.

United Mileage Plus Shopping Portal

This United MileagePlus shopping portal allows you to collect MileagePlus miles on your flower purchases. Current participating retailers include:

  • Flowers by UrbanStems
  • FTD.com
  • FromYouFlowers.com
  • Teleflora
  • Florists.com
  • ProFlowers
  • SendFlowers.com
  • 1-800-Flowers.com
  • The Bouqs

The highest bonus available, when I searched, was 20X miles per dollar at FTD.com.

Shop Through Chase

Shop Through Chase enables you to earn Ultimate Rewards points on your online purchases — outside of what you earn with your credit card. Here are the floral vendors currently available:

  • Teleflora
  • Florists.com
  • FTD.com
  • FromYouFlowers.com
  • ProFlowers
  • SendFlowers.com
  • Flowers by UrbanStems
  • The Bouqs

At this time, Florists.com has the highest earning rate at 20X points per dollar.

Capital One Shopping

Capital One Shopping offers cashback in the form of gift cards rather than points. If you want to earn Capital One miles, you need to go through its merchant offers. But as of the time of writing, here are the vendors available through the portal:

  • Flowershopping.com
  • FromYouFlowers.com
  • Teleflora
  • Florists.com
  • ProFlowers
  • SendFlowers.com
  • 1-800-Flowers.com

At the time that I searched the portal, both 1-800-Flowers and FromYouFlowers were both offering 25% back.

Rakuten

Although Rakuten is primarily a cashback portal, American Express cardholders can choose to earn Membership Rewards points instead. These florists are currently available:

  • Flowershopping.com
  • Flowers by UrbanStems
  • FTD.com
  • FromYouFlowers.com
  • Teleflora
  • Florists.com
  • ProFlowers
  • SendFlowers.com
  • 1-800-Flowers.com
  • The Bouqs
  • BloomTodayFlowers
  • Bloomstodayflowers
  • Flowers Fast

The highest bonus available at Rakuten is currently a 19% bonus at UrbanStems.

Other airline portals, such as Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Shopping and Delta SkyMiles Shopping, also offer similar opportunities. If you’re looking to boost a specific mileage balance, check your preferred airline’s portal for current offers.

Leverage Bank Merchant Offers for Discounts and Savings

In addition to shopping portals, many banks offer targeted credit card deals that provide extra points or cashback. These offers can be found in your online credit card account under the “Offers” section. Current promotions include:

Amex Offers

  • 25% back on purchases at 1-800-Flowers

Chase Offers

  • 10% cashback at 1-800-Flowers
  • 10% cashback at The Bouqs Co

Capital One Offers

  • 25X miles at 1800Flowers.com
  • 20X miles ProFlowers
  • 1X miles FlowerShopping.com
  • 25X miles FTD Flowers
  • 15X miles Send Flowers
  • 25X miles FromYouFlowers
  • 14X miles Florists.com
  • 25X miles Teleflora

Citi Merchant Offers

  • 15% back at 1800Flowers
  • 18% back at Simply Blooms

Each offer is specific to your account and may vary across your different credit cards, so check all of your cards for available deals.

A great strategy is to stack these bank offers with shopping portal rewards. For example, you could activate the 25% back Amex Offer (if targeted) for 1-800-Flowers, then navigate to 1-800-Flowers via Rakuten, pay with your Amex card, and earn both bonuses.

Buy Vouchers Through Groupon

Another way to save on your flower purchase is to purchase vouchers through Groupon to redeem through an online flower merchant. For example, you can currently get a $40 FTD voucher via Groupon for $18. Even better, drop that price to just $14.40 by using promo code GROUPON. Just note that the expiration date doesn't leave much time to use your voucher.

FTD is just one of many flower merchants offering deals through Groupon. Here are some other flower options currently available with this deal:

Buy Preserved Flowers on Amazon

If the idea of buying expensive flowers that will wilt and die in a week has you cringing, consider buying “preserved flowers” on Amazon.com. These are real and fragrant roses that will last!

Even better, if you have a Chase Freedom Card with rotating categories, such as the Chase Freedom Flex℠, you'll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards (or 5% cashback) on your purchase! That's because Amazon is one of the quarterly bonus categories right now.

Which Credit Card Should You Use for Online Flower Purchases?

Shopping portals are not tied to a specific credit card, so you’re free to choose the one that earns the most rewards on your purchase. If you’re not working on a welcome bonus or using a bank offer, consider a card that earns more than 1X points per dollar on all purchases, such as:

Bottom Line

Before making any online purchase, always check shopping portals to maximize your rewards. Around holidays like Mother's Day, many portals offer elevated rates on relevant merchants, including florists. Combine these with bank merchant offers and reward-earning credit cards to stack your rewards and get the best value for your flower order.
