With the end of summer on the horizon, this season's bonus points campaigns are coming to an end, and the fall promos are starting to roll out, the first being SPG's ‘More for you' campaign.
SPG ‘More For You' Promotion
Opening for registration on September 12, 2016, this campaign looks remarkably similar to the previous Triple Up promotion that ended on July 31, with a simple earning structure.
- Registration begins September 12, 2016
- Earn double Starpoints® on weekday stays of two or more nights
- Earn triple Starpoints on weekends – Eligible weekend stays must be two or more nights and include a Friday or Saturday (Thursday or Friday in select locations).
- For stays between September 12 and December 18, 2016
Elite tiers will earn the following with the new promotion:
Preferred Guest
- 4 Starpoints/$1 on weekdays
- 6 Starpoints/$1 on weekends
Gold and Platinum Preferred Guest
- 5 Starpoints/$1 on weekdays
- 7 Starpoints/$1 on weekends

At this stage, that is all the information Starwood has placed online, so until we see the FAQ and T&C's we don't know if there will be a list of excluded hotels or if bonuses are stackable with other promotions.
To be honest, it's a bit of a weak push from Starwood and doesn't provide much incentive to book SPG stays. Sure, bonus points are always welcome, but nothing innovative here.
Play SPG Open More for Starpoints and Free Nights
As part of the coming soon page on Starwood's website, members can participate in a game called ‘Open More.' By entering your SPG member number in the box and then choosing from the available cards (each card represents an SPG brand with info about that family of properties).
You can participate daily to win prizes of 1,000, 5,000, and 10,000 free Starpoints and also free nights. Each entry automatically goes into the drawing to win a grand prize of 50,000 points or 5 free nights.

Final Thoughts
Is this promotion enough to move nights from another chain to Starwood? We don't think so.
However, if you are a Starwood loyalist, then bonus points are bonus points, so be sure to register when the promotion opens. Combined with the latest Member Select Exclusive promotion, there could be value for members but as Member Select is targeted it will depend on the individual.
