American Airlines Cruises is the airline's booking portal where you can earn and redeem AAdvantage® miles on cruises. It's worth knowing about if you are planning a trip that includes a cruise, as it can help grow your mileage balance and inch closer to elite status with American Airlines.

In addition, travelers with an AAdvantage credit card can take advantage of an ongoing promotion that offers double AAdvantage miles on cruises booked through American Airlines Cruises throughout 2025. You will also earn Loyalty Points toward elite status with American Airlines on the cash portion of your booking.

Here's what you need to know about American Airlines Cruises and the current promotions available.

What Is American Airlines Cruises?

American Airlines offers a branded cruise booking portal powered by World Travel Holdings. In this portal, you can find cruises from more than 20 major providers. It’s similar to what other airlines offer through portals like United Cruises and Delta Cruises.

These portals typically provide bonus miles, a 110% refund of the price difference if you find a better deal elsewhere, and the standard cruise perks you’d expect when booking through a third-party site. The main difference with American Airlines Cruises is that you earn AAdvantage miles instead of SkyMiles or MileagePlus miles.

Even better, the base fare before taxes on AA’s cruise portal also qualifies for earning Loyalty Points. In other words, you can cruise your way toward AAdvantage elite status.

Redeem AAdvantage miles on cruises

As of June 2025, American Airlines Cruises lets AAdvantage members redeem miles toward cruise bookings. When using miles, each mile is worth 1¢ each. That means a $1,000 cruise would cost 100,000 AAdvantage miles. However, not all room types are available when booking with miles.

You can also pay with a combination of miles and cash. Choose how much of the cruise you want to cover with miles and pay the rest with cash; you will get the same value either way. You will also earn AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points on the portion paid in cash.

When booking with miles, you will also receive all offers and benefits that come with a cash booking.

Our Take

American Airlines Cruises is another way AAdvantage members can earn and redeem miles. If you care about earning and redeeming these valuable miles, this booking platform should be on your radar — and more so when there's a promotion on the table.

Right now, American Airlines credit cardholders who book a cruise by the end of 2025 will earn double miles. Eligible sailings can take place through the end of 2026.

Moreover, many cruise lines listed on American Airlines Cruises also offer extra benefits and limited-time perks. You may receive up to $1,000 or more in onboard credit, bonus miles, free gratuities, and other special offers. These promotions change often, so check what is available for your cruise line when booking or come back later to see what new deals are on offer.
