British Airways releases several Avios-only flights every year. Unfortunately, there is no specific date or route when British Airways releases these awards, so you have to keep your eyes peeled. However, they can be a great option for maximizing your Avios use if you are lucky enough to snag a seat.
The latest British Airways Avios-only flights were released in July 2025 and cover the route between London Heathrow and Cape Town during the winter season. This is in addition to the current flights between London and Malaga and Marrakech scheduled for this fall. One thing to keep in mind is that these awards will be snapped up quickly, so it's best to book them promptly. Here's how.
Avios-Only Flights from London to Cape Town
The London to Cape Town (CPT) round trip is scheduled for the following dates:
- Outbound London to Cape Town, December 20, 2025, on BA43.
- Inbound Cape Town to London, January 2, 2026, on BA42.

Cape Town to London (January 2, 2026)
When it comes to the return leg, there does not seem to be any award space left. However, whether all the award space is booked or if BA is releasing this space over time, it is unclear. However, I would not hold much hope if you were trying to book this award.

The London to Malaga (AGP) round trip is scheduled for the following dates:
- Outbound London to Malaga on October 26, 2025, on BA422.

Our Take
On the one hand, an award-only flight is great news as it means hundreds of available award seats. However, These seats are only useful if you want to travel to the particular destination on offer on the particular dates British Airways is offering these flights.
This time around, British Airways announced flights to a very appealing winter destination. However, not all travelers can accommodate the limited dates of these British Airways Avios-only flights with their travel schedules.
If you're considering booking one of these new awards, make sure to crunch the numbers based on your Avios balance and travel goals to ensure you get the biggest bang for your Avios.
