Capital One has made a lot of moves to ensure its products continue to offer value to customers. The latest development targets fans of food delivery. (Is anyone not a fan of food?)
Starting July 14, 2020, Capital One launched a new partnership with Uber Eats—the on-demand food delivery service from Uber. For a limited time, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card cardholders will earn 5X miles on Uber Eats purchases. Meanwhile, and Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card cardholders will earn 5% cashback.
Key Terms
- This offer is valid for purchases between July 14, 2020 – January 31, 2021
- There is no limit to the miles or cashback you can earn
- Capital One will credit the rewards to your eligible account within one to two billing cycles
- Purchases paid via a 3rd party processor—digital wallet, Apple Pay, Paypal, etc.—will not qualify for enhanced rewards
Interestingly, this promotion is combinable with Capital One's previous promotion allowing Venture and Spark cardholders to redeem points for dining purchases. That means Venture cardmembers could buy dinner, earn 5X miles, and then use your miles to offset the charge!
Bottom Line
This is a great new benefit for Capital One Venture and Savor cardholders. I like that Capital One isn't putting a limit to your earnings—unlike Chase, Amex, and Citi with their latest card updates. I also like how Capital One is offering this promotion all the way through the end of January 2021. That gives folks plenty of time to take advantage of the heightened earnings.
While 5X Capital One Miles or 5% cashback is excellent, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best you can do. For example, the Citi Prestige® Card (review) always earns 5X ThankYou Points on dining purchases. I value Citi ThankYou Points marginally higher than Capital One Miles, meaning the Prestige Card still earns a better return.
Whichever card you end up using, be sure you remember to click through Aeroplan's Uber Eats shopping portal before placing your order. Launched last month, Air Canada's Aeroplan partnership with Uber Eats continues to award 2X Aeroplan miles per dollar spent on Uber Eats on top of any credit card rewards.

Does this promotion make your Capital One Venture or Savor card your “go-to” payment method for Uber Eats?

No luck for us Quicksilver cardholders then?
You should definitely prioritize Amex Platinum credits first at $15 a month for each.
Definitely taking advantage of this one. It’s rare that Capita One will give 5x the miles & with the holidays coming soon, this will surely add up quickly. Thanks for the heads up!
I wonder why purchases paid via a 3rd party processor are not qualified for the promotion.
Food delivery is a sign of the times. Capital One is wise to embrace this trend, so we consumers can save some money.
They should make the promotion a 12-month one 🙂
The promotion brings the price of the service to a more realistic level 🙂
May have to reconsider Capital One. The value wasn’t there. They seem to be looking forward. Great tip on the Aeroplan portal, thank you. It’s one I always forget about.
I just got the Capital One Savor card. This is a goid partnership with uber eats and is really good for business. excited to use the card
Una nueva oportunidad para que todos puedan progresar, con esfuerzo, paso a paso.
Uber eats is too slow in my area.
No limit on your earnings with capital one and 5x points. It’s a no brainier. Way to go capital one. Best rewards card out there if you have a venture.
Competition for our eating our cash is good for us consumers. I don’t currently have a Venture card.
And, now that Uber Eats has purchased Postmates, we should be entering a nice period of heightened competition between the major players, as they duke it out for market share. For example, Doordash has a decent promotion right now, if you sign up for a free trial of their DashPass.
