Have you ever misplaced your Capital One credit card and found yourself urgently needing the card number? Or perhaps you are just too lazy to walk upstairs to grab your wallet (maybe that's just me?). Whatever your reason may be for not having access to your card, though, Capital One is making life easier by allowing you to view your credit card number and card information online.
In addition to being able to access your credit card information, you can also create a temporary virtual card number when shopping online. This option can help keep your information safe and secure. Let's take a look at how to access these options and why you may want to consider using these features when shopping online.
How to Access Your Card Information
Accessing your card information online with Capital One is not only convenient, but the process is super easy and straightforward. To find your credit card number when using your desktop, start by logging into your Capital One account. You can do that here.
Once logged in, select the account you would like to access. You'll be taken to that account's home page. From here, you can find the option to see your card information at the top of the page. Just click on the “View Card Number” option and voila — all of your card information, including your card number, expiration date, and CVV is right there and ready for you to use.
Note that you may be asked to verify your account via text message or email before your account information is available to view.
A second option is to pull up your card number and information by accessing your account's homepage and navigating to the “I Want To” button.
Once there, scroll down to the bottom of the “Control Your Card” list and choose the “View Card Number” option.
This is where you'll be prompted to verify your information and, finally, you will be allowed access to your account number.
How to Create A Virtual Card Number
A virtual card number is not the same as accessing your credit card account number. In fact, a virtual card number is used to essentially “mask” your real card information. The virtual number is tied to your actual account, but — since it is not your real card number and can easily be changed by you — it is much harder for your information to be compromised. Virtual card numbers can help significantly cut back on fraud by keeping your info safe and secure.
Fortunately, creating a temporary virtual card number is another great option available to Capital One cardholders.
Desktop
Capital One uses a program known as Eno, which allows you to create virtual card numbers that are linked to your designated Capital One cards. You can do this when shopping from your desktop. Eno is a browser extension that creates merchant-specific virtual cards.
According to Capital One, “If a merchant is compromised, just lock the virtual card or create a new one.” The best part is that locking a virtual card won't impact your ability to use your actual account.
To set up Eno, you'll need to have a compatible browser — which can be either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. You can access the download here. Once you download the extension, you'll need to log into your Capital One account.
You'll also need to make sure you have a card on hand to verify some of your information. Or, better yet, open up your Capital One online account and snag your information that way. You don't even have to get out of your chair!
Once the browser is installed, you can begin customizing from there.
Capital One Mobile App
You can also view your Capital One card number through the Capital One mobile app. If you don't have the Capital One app, you can download it here with Google Play and here for the Apple App Store.
Once the app is installed, select the account for which you need the card information. You'll then be taken to the next screen. Scroll down a bit and look for the option that says “Virtual Card” and select the “Get a Number” option.
Next, you'll see several features to choose from. You'll want to select the “View Your Virtual Card Number” link.
At this point, Capital One may ask to verify your device via text, phone call, or email. Once verified, your card information will be available. You can use it just like you would any time you shop online.
Other Cards That Allow You to View Your Card Information Online
Not many banks are keen on allowing users to access their credit card information online — and for good reason. The most obvious reason is due to security concerns.
As far as the more well-known banks of the points and miles world, only Capital One allows you to access your credit card number and info online. Remember that this is different than generating virtual card numbers.
Some banks will, however, give you your credit card information when you first apply and are approved for a new account. For example, American Express lets new customers access their credit card information online following application approval while awaiting the arrival of their card in the mail.
Although you can't get your information specifically from your online account, many banks will provide your account number on your statement. While this can be handy, it does not include your expiration or CVV number, so its usefulness can be limited.

Banks Which Give Virtual Credit Card Numbers
Remember that virtual card numbers essentially cloak your real credit card information. Not all banks offer the ability to create virtual card numbers, but there are a few, which include:
- Capital One
- Citibank
Additionally, there are some banks that offer virtual card numbers for some of their corporate card products:
- American Express
- Brex Corporate Card
- J.P Morgan Chase
- U.S. Bank
Final Thoughts
The next time you find yourself needing your card information but don't have that plastic on hand, remember that you can access your Capital One credit card number by logging into your online account and pulling it up there. Better yet, utilize Capital One's virtual card number option to keep your card information safe and secure when shopping and checking out online.

I am trying to make my deposit I went through the app but it’s it does not let me make the $49 payment
This must’ve changed since January because as of today, there’s no option to view card details. 🙁
Ok so they will do the actual account number and a virtual? I would prefer the virtual, just for the security, like you mentioned. I like having Samsung Pay more. I do get why having the account would be good but I am old school and nervous about it.
