Yes, Finnair Plus award points expire if you have not earned or used points for 18 months. Per the Finnair Plus FAQs page:
“All available award points will expire at the end of the 18th consecutive month for which the member has not earned or used points.”
Remember that Finnair Plus counts the month the points are earned as the first month of the 18-month validity. For instance, if points are last earned or used on January 1, 2023, your points balance will expire on June 30, 2024.

How to Keep Your Finnair Plus Points Balance Active?

Other Option Outside of the US.
Although Finnair Plus has no credit card transfer partners in the U.S., that is not the case globally. Finnair is a transfer partner for American Express Membership Rewards in various European countries, including the UK. For eligible members, transferring Membership Rewards points to Finnair Plus will count as an activity that will reset your points expiration clock.
Our Take
Although 18 months is not the most generous expiration deadline around, it is still a decent offer.
However, Finnair offers so many different ways to earn and use points that it would be hard to imagine letting your points expire due to lack of activity. You can use Award Wallet to track your Finnair points balance. The timely reminder you receive will help you take action and prevent your points from expiring.
