This month’s Flying Blue Promo Awards are up and running — and it doesn't look good. Every month the promotion gives discounts of up to 50% on award bookings with Flying Blue. Bookings must be made between March 1 and March 31, 2018. Travel dates for most routes in this month’s promotion are between May 1 and June 30, 2018. One thing to note is that this month, across the board, there aren’t many destinations available.
Options For North America
“Abysmal” is the only word that can describe this month’s options for North America. There is only one participating destination: Calgary, Canada. If you are interested, tickets are in Business class and are discounted by 25%. Flights will set you back 46,875 miles one way or 93,750 miles round trip.
Other Global Destinations
Typically, Flying Blue Promo Awards offer discounts of 25% to 50%. This month, other global destinations from Europe with a discount of 50% are:
- Europe to Cotonou, Benin (Economy)
- Europe to Lome, Togo (Economy)
- Europe to Dubai, UAE (Premium Economy & Business)
Key Points To Remember
- Flights need to be booked by March 31, 2018
- Bookings only valid if made via KLM.com or AirFrance.com; phone bookings are not possible
- Tickets cannot be canceled, changed, or refunded
- Tickets are sold as one-way or roundtrip
Flying Blue Miles Transfer Partners
If you are short a few miles, Flying Blue has a well-developed partnership with all four major transferable point programs. You can transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Marriott Rewards.
This month’s Flying Blue Promo Awards are disappointing. There are only a few routes offering a top-level discount of 50%, and a weak selection of destinations compared to previous iterations we've seen. This seems to be a trend we've seen, with little to no options. Is the program going to the wayside? We'll continue to look and cover the discounts, but the trend is sad.
That said, it is always worth checking out if any of the routes available marry up with your travel plans. If you are interested in the destinations available, you'll want to book quickly as space, is, of course, limited.
