Get Elite Perks and Benefits by Booking Stays Through The Edit
In 2023, Chase rebranded its Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection (LHRC) program as “The Edit by Chase Travel“, which officially launched in early 2024. The program is designed to offer luxury lodging experiences for Sapphire Reserve cardholders. The Edit is a curated collection of luxury hotels and resorts around the globe offering exclusive perks to eligible cardholders.
While many of these extra perks are typically tied to elite status with major hotel chains, many participating properties are not part of those programs, so this may be the only way to access them. Benefits can include daily breakfast for two, early check-in and late check-out when available, room upgrades at check-in if available, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a $100 property credit for dining, spa services, or other on-site activities.

You can now book these hotels using Ultimate Rewards points — or use your Sapphire Reserve to earn bonus points. Formerly, LHRC hotels could only be booked with cash, so this is an exciting update for those who love to earn and redeem their Chase points.
This is a great way for cardholders to take advantage of benefits that often come only by holding status at hotels and should rival those offered by other luxury hotel programs, such as Capital One, American Express, and Citi.

Take advantage of the new $500 annual The Edit credit
As of the 2025 updates, Sapphire Reserve cardholders now receive up to $500 in credits each calendar year for prepaid stays booked through The Edit. This comes in the form of two $250 statement credits — one from January through June and another from July through December — when booking stays of two nights or more.
This new benefit allows cardholders to take advantage of The Edit’s perks while helping offset the card’s annual fee, especially for travelers who already book luxury or boutique properties.
Double-dip on The Edit reservations
But there's more great news. Some select properties that participate in The Edit also allow you to earn hotel-specific loyalty rewards. This means that whether you booked your stay on a cash rate or used Ultimate Rewards, you'd be earning points with whatever program that property participates in.
For example, if you book at a hotel that's also part of the World of Hyatt umbrella, you can earn both Ultimate Rewards and World of Hyatt points from paid stays — as well as qualifying nights that count towards Hyatt elite status.
Bookings that are hotel program eligible will also extend elite perks for these reservations. So you may even be able to experience a stay enhanced further than Globalist by adding The Edit perks like the property credits. Just be sure to add your hotel loyalty number to your reservation to receive these benefits.

Luxury Benefits at Relais & Châteaux Properties
The Sapphire Reserve is a Visa Infinite card, which means it comes with perks such as a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck statement credit, rental car discounts and perks, car rental collision damage waiver insurance, trip cancellation or interruption reimbursement, and more.
Also included on the list of Visa Infinite perks are complimentary breakfast and personalized VIP welcome benefits at Relais & Châteaux properties. What are those? A collection of over 140 luxury properties around the world that pride themselves on attention to detail and authentic regional experiences through food.

Access to the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection
Through Visa Infinite, Sapphire Reserve cardholders also have access to the Visa Signature Luxury Hotel Collection. This is a collection of more than 900 luxury hotels around the globe where Visa Infinite cardholders, including those with a Sapphire Reserve card in their wallets, can get extra benefits.
Those benefits include a room upgrade at check-in when available, free WiFi, complimentary continental breakfast, 3 pm late check-out upon request if available, and a $25 food and beverage credit. This perk even offers a best rate guarantee when booking publicly available rates.
Put Your $300 Travel Credit Towards Hotel Stays and Eligible Charges
Sapphire Reserve cardholders receive an annual travel credit of up to $300 toward any travel purchases. This includes hotel bookings made with the card. You can use this to cover nights at a property that you don't have status with, or a small property that is hard or impossible to book with points.
This travel credit is one of the most flexible among luxury cards. It applies automatically to the first $300 worth of travel purchases made on the card during the cardmember year.

Compare this to the $300 travel credit on the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, which only comes off as a discount during checkout through the Capital One Travel portal. Likewise, the The Platinum Card® from American Express offers up to $200 in annual travel credits, but only for specific bookings made through American Express Travel, some of which require a two-night minimum stay. The card also offers up to $200 per year in airline incidental credits, though enrollment is required in advance, and the credit only applies to a limited set of fees for one pre-selected airline.
We're focusing on hotels today, but the Sapphire Reserve‘s travel credit covers many other types of travel as well. Chase defines travel as any of the following:
- Airlines
- Hotels and motels
- Timeshares
- Car rental agencies
- Cruise lines
- Travel agencies
- Discount travel sites
- Campgrounds
- Operators of passenger trains, buses, taxis, limousines, ferries, toll bridges, and highways
- Parking lots and garages
Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Hotel Partners
Another one of the Sapphire Reserve‘s hotel benefits is the access it gives to the Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer partners, which means major value for your points.
Chase has three hotel partners: World of Hyatt, IHG One Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy. But Hyatt is our favorite, thanks to its many award chart sweet spots and the fact that it usually takes fewer points to redeem award nights than what you'll see in other programs.
However, be sure to keep an eye out for transfer bonuses from Chase to some of these programs. Partners and the amount being bonused change through the year, but they're a phenomenal chance to squeeze more juice out of the same oranges. These transfer bonuses are a good time to take advantage of the transfer partners accessible with your Sapphire Reserve to get extra points for free.

Using Ultimate Rewards Points in the Chase Travel℠ Portal
With the recent overhaul to the Sapphire Reserve, cardholders will see significant changes when using points to book hotels through the Chase Travel portal, thanks to the launch of the new Points Boost program.
Instead of a fixed redemption value of 1.5 cents per point, hotel redemptions will now vary based on the property and timing. Select hotel bookings will offer up to 2 cents per point in value through Points Boost offers. Non-boosted bookings will redeem at a flat 1 cent per point. If you’re a long-time cardholder, you may still be able to redeem previously earned points at 1.5 cents each for a limited time. But going forward, most redemptions will follow the new Points Boost structure.
Earning rates on hotels booked through the portal
Not only can you redeem points at a higher value, but you also earn extra points when paying cash for hotels in the travel portal. Sapphire Reserve cardholders earn 8X points on hotels paid for through Chase Travel℠, versus 4X points earned when booking directly with the hotel.
Keep in mind, though, that reservations made through the Chase portal are considered third-party bookings. That means that most major hotel chains will not honor elite status or extend any status benefits for reservations made through a third party. This could mean foregoing late checkout, free breakfast, and complimentary room upgrades if you have elite status with a hotel program.
However, this excludes bookings through The Edit that expressly state they are eligible for hotel benefits.

Unlock Complimentary Hotel Status
Elite status can make a big difference in your hotel experience, from complimentary upgrades and late checkout to earning more points on paid stays. With the Sapphire Reserve, you can unlock these kinds of perks automatically.
Cardholders can now register for complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite status, a mid-tier level that includes room upgrades, extended checkout when available, and bonus earnings on paid stays. Spend $75,000 on the card in a calendar year, and you’ll unlock IHG Diamond Elite status, which adds free breakfast and greater upgrade priority.
Cardholders can also periodically claim three months (with the ability to extend status) of Marriott Gold Elite status just by registering for this lucrative promotion when it comes around.
This offer has returned consistently with the same terms over the past few years. While it hasn’t been announced for 2025 yet, it’s worth checking back as it will hopefully be available again soon.

Bottom Line
