Lyft — the second-largest ride-hailing program in the US — just relaunched its Lyft Pink membership program. Although the Lyft Pink membership has been around for a couple of years now, it's now being revamped with added benefits and a lower subscription fee.
Lyft Pink Membership Program
The relaunched Lyft Pink membership program now comes with the following benefits:
- Free Priority Pickup upgrades to get picked up faster
- At least 5% off on select rides
- Cancel up to 3 times per month for free
- In-app roadside assistance for your own car, free up to 4 times a year
- One free bike or scooter unlock each month (down from 3)
- Free SIXT car rental upgrades
- Complimentary Grubhub+ membership
New Lower Fee for Lyft Pink
Previously, the membership cost $19.99 per month subscription fee. That fee got you 15% off rides in the U.S., 3 free cancellations a month, 3 free scooter rides, priority airport pickup, no lost-and-found fees, and a free Grubhub+ membership. Based on that price, you would have had to spend $134 before taxes and fees to break even on the membership cost.
With the relaunch of the Lyft Pink program, the membership fee has been cut in half. Instead of $19.99 per month, the new membership fee is only $9.99 per month or $99.99 for the annual membership.
If you need more bike and scooter rides, there is also the option of Lyft Pink All Access for $199.99 per year. With the upgraded membership, you get unlimited free 45-minute classic bike rides, unlimited free scooter and e-bike unlocks, discounted scooter and e-bike rates, and three free bike or scooter guest passes each year.
Remember that you can earn bonus points on your Lyft ride by using a Chase credit card. The following cards get discounts or bonuses with Lyft through March 2025:
10X Total Points
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- J.P. Morgan Reserve Card
5X Total Points:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
- Ink Plus® Business Credit Card
- Chase Sapphire® Card
5% Cash Back
- Chase Freedom Flex℠
- Chase Freedom Unlimited®
- Chase Freedom® Student credit card
- Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card
- Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
- Chase Freedom®
Unfortunately, the complimentary Lyft Pink membership is no longer available to Sapphire Reserve cardholders. Currently, the only way to get a free membership is to be a top driver for Lyft.
To maximize the earnings from your Lyft rides, link your Hilton or Delta accounts to Lyft to double-dip on rides.
Our Take
The Lyft Pink membership program relaunch is good news for Lyft users. You don't have to spend as much to break even on your membership each month. The benefits might be slightly lower than before, but if anything, you're now getting Lyft Pink and Grubhub+ together for just $9.99 per month.
Now we'll just have to see if the complimentary Lyft Pink membership comes back for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.
