Uber really wants travelers to reserve rides in advance, and now it's launching a new promotion to reward you for doing so. Starting today, travelers can earn up to 20,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points by linking their email account to Uber Travel and completing four Uber Reserve rides by September 30, 2023. Even better, you'll get 10% back in Uber Cash for each Uber Reserve ride scheduled through Uber Travel.
Here's what you need to know to take advantage of these promotions.
Bonus Marriott Points for Completing Uber Reserve Rides via Uber Travel
Before you can earn any bonus Bonvoy points, you'll first need to link your Marriott Bonvoy account to Uber. If you haven't done so before now, you'll score 1,000 bonus points for linking your accounts by December 31, 2023. Next, link your email account to Uber Travel. You'll earn another 2,000 bonus points just for doing so by September 30, 2023.
To link your email address, open your Uber app and click the Travel module:
From there, Uber will walk you through the process to connect your email account and import your travel plans.
Earn additional bonus points by scheduling an Uber Reserve ride through Uber Travel. You'll earn 4,000 bonus points for each ride scheduled and completed through Uber Travel — for up to four rides through September 30.
If you schedule and complete four reserved rides via Uber Travel, you'll earn an additional 2,000 bonus points. That will earn you a total of 20,000 bonus points — or 21,000 if you haven't linked your Uber and Marriott accounts before now.
To recap, you can earn:
- 1,000 points for linking your Marriott Bonvoy and Uber accounts by December 31, 2023.
- 2,000 points for linking your email account to Uber Travel by September 30, 2023.
- 4,000 points per ride scheduled through Uber Travel, up to four rides. All rides must be completed by September 30, 2023.
- 2,000 points for completing four rides via Uber Travel by September 30, 2023.
AwardWallet users have recently redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points at an average of 0.95¢ per point. At that average redemption rate, you're earning around $210 worth of Marriott points through these promotions.
What Is Uber Reserve?
As the name might suggest, Uber Reserve is Uber's program to reserve rides in advance. Rather than waiting until you need to hail a ride, Uber Reserve lets you schedule a ride up to 90 days in advance. This feature can be useful to avoid needing to hail a ride at the last minute, whether you're getting a ride to the airport or for a night out on the town. Plus, you'll lock in a price in advance — avoiding surge pricing.
The only requirement to use Uber Reserve is that you need to schedule your pickup at least 30 minutes in advance. Plans changed? You can cancel your ride with no charge up to an hour in advance of your ride — and within an hour if no driver has confirmed your trip yet.
Uber Reserve includes up to 15 minutes of wait time. Plus it includes intuitive features, such as automatically rescheduling an airport pickup ride if your flight is delayed. You can even request your favorite driver.
Just note that Uber doesn't guarantee that a driver will accept your request. So, make sure you have an emergency backup in case no driver can be found.
What Is Uber Travel?
Uber Travel is a relatively new feature that lets you manage your travel plans right in the Uber app. By connecting your email inbox, your flights, hotels, car rentals, restaurant reservations, etc. will all be viewable in the Uber Travel app.
Uber then uses these travel plans to suggest rides that you might want to reserve — such as a ride to the airport, between the airport and your hotel, and even to a dinner reservation.
As an added incentive to use Uber Travel, riders earn 10% back on Uber Reserve rides booked through Uber Travel. This Uber Cash will be deposited into your account within 30 days of completing an eligible ride. You can use this Uber Cash anytime within a year from issuance.
If Uber Travel's features sound familiar, there's a reason for that. Uber Travel is powered by AwardWallet technology. Just note that you'll need to opt into Uber Travel even if you already have an AwardWallet account.
Bottom Line
Travelers can currently score a bunch of bonus Marriott Bonvoy points for interacting with Uber. You'll get bonus points for linking your Bonvoy account to Uber, bonus points for linking your email address to Uber Travel, plus earn bonus points for taking up to four reserved rides. But, you'll need to opt in and complete rides by September 30, 2023 to take advantage of this promotion.

Hi there, it’s the end of the month so checking in on this again. I still don’t see this announced anywhere. Is it still happening?
I’ve checked back with Uber a couple of times and they keep assuring me that they will be advertising this promotion soon.
Still no announcement? I was going to follow up with Marriott for my missing points, but if it hasn’t been announced yet, want to hold off.
I keep being assured by Uber that they are going to launch any day now. I wish I had better news to report! I’d recommend holding off for now.
Thanks for this awesome content, any update on an official announcement from Uber? I don’t see a promo banner on my reserve tile still. I was able to link my email to Uber travel though
The official announcement was a bit delayed, but it should be out in the next few days. And Uber has stated that activity (such as linking your account) completed since August 4 will count.
I just completed 4 Uber Travel Reserve trips between 8/8 and 8/11 and did not get any of the Bonus Bonvoy points from the promo. I did 2 Uber Comfort (which received 2x Bonvoy points per $ spent) and 2 UberX (no points earned). I got the 10% Uber Cash from having Uber One, but that’s it. I’m hoping the 20,000 points post, but not so optimistic.
Rob: Thanks for flagging. I followed up with our contact at Uber and this promotion is delayed a bit. But you should end up getting the bonus points for those rides. I want to hear if you don’t get them so I can check with Uber.
Is there anything official from Uber concerning this point bonus? I have a work trip coming up which will qualify me for this but I would like some kind of confirmation other than this blog post before I book everything
Uber told us that they were going to send out marketing emails on August 4, around the time we published this post. Unfortunately, we still haven’t seen such emails sent out.
All of the rides I have checked are 2X to 3X the normal price, so it appears that you can actually lock in surge pricing rather than avoid it.
My Uber travel tile doesn’t have the “promo”
Banner like in the picture in the article… and no where on the app does it have any language about this promo? When I link my gmail and go to schedule a ride just mentions 10% back? Am I missing something?
I’m in contact with Uber. It looks like some travelers may not see the Uber Travel option if they’ve been in an ineligible region (which isn’t defined). This will reset after some time (again, not sure how long it will take).
Maybe they are in Beta and only a select few users are seeing it. Can you do some digging on when all users will be able to see Uber Travel? Only 50% of friends/family have access to it(all in the same region, so its not the location).
Interesting that only half of your friends and family are seeing it! Checking with Uber about this.
Doesn’t that give Uber access to my entire email account and all my emails? No thanks.
I don’t see that “Travel” module in the Uber app (nor do I see the Rental Cars one). I did hit “see all” by Suggestions and I don’t have either of those. I updated the app in case that was the problem, but I still don’t see it.
Ah, looks like Uber Travel isn’t available everywhere :/
From the Uber Travel page: “If Uber Travel is available in your city, you can find it in your Uber app”
Is there any email confirmation of this? The promo sounds good but I’m having a hard time finding a website confirming this
Uber was supposed to send out an email today about this promotion. I still haven’t seen it yet though :/
Thanks for replying!
Is there someplace to register for this promotion?
You need to register through the app. I’ve asked Uber if there’s a landing page we can link to.
By register in the app you mean linking our account and the Uber travel/email? Or is there more to it
That should be it! But I’m checking with my Uber contact to be sure.
Any updates from Uber as to whether this promotion is happening?
I am assured that it’s still happening, but just delayed on Uber’s end. However, I’m also assured that points will be backdated for travelers that signed up and used the service since the original launch date.
