Is It Worth It?

Ultimately this will depend on your spending patterns. Ask yourself: do you spend $500 each month on internet, cable and phone services, shipping, grocery stores, and movie theaters? If you don’t, there is no point going after the promotion.

If you take advantage of the promotion, you would ultimately be earning 5% back in statement credits on a spend of $1,000 over November and December. If you are chasing the $5,000 spending threshold for the 2 elite night credits, or the $15,000 spending threshold for a free night at any Category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort, then this promotion just sweetened the deal a little and makes sense.

  • Nice promotion considering I do spend these amounts and more, however I can only hope other cards copy this… as I don’t have a Hyatt card!

  • kudos to those that can spend this on those categories every month… I save this credit amount and then some every month by not.

    Winner winner

  • Hmmm probably not worth it for me.
Thanks for the informative post though!

  • When I click on a link it says:

    “Unable to enroll
We’re sorry! The registration period for this offer has ended. Please keep an eye out for future offers from the Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Credit Card.”

  • I keep my hyatt card parrtly because of these random offers. Otherwise, the downgrade from Platinum to Discoverist was a nail in the coffin.

  • Not bad if you have a card, but not sure I would use my 5/24 on a Hyatt card

  • Travelfreek says:

I’m gonna give this a try. My cable plus mobile plus internet bill add up to $240 per month. So, I guess buying at my local grocery store another $100 – $200 at least this month and any shortfall I can buy gift cards for that store, and I should be good. It’s not a GREAT promotion but I can also donate the grocery store gift cards during the holidays because I usually donate anyway (or just use them over time). So a free $50 for the 2 months will probably be worth a small amount of effort for me. Thanks for breaking this down for us!

  • Will not shift my phone/internet to this card since Ink Cash has better yield. Will use it only for grocery.

  • I hope this deal spreads to other Chase cards. Alex has something similar spend $200 on same items and receive a $20 statement credit.

  • Yesss I might actually use this now!

  • It’s on my list to get post 5/24

  • If I was going for the Hyatt card, I would. I agree that it all depends on what your goals for your next trip are. Chase is where I am focusing my spending right now.
However, I did read that Hilton was doing a targeted offer with their Amex?

  • Sounds like an easy promo to accomplish. I’ll definitely be registering for this one.

  • Well, I just need more social security numbers to take advantage of all the offers LOL

  • I love Hyatt points, but I only use my Hyatt cc for spend at Hyatt hotels, instead choosing to use my UR cc’s for everyday spend. Thanks for posting though.

  • not worth it for me, but good for some

  • Lillian Dikovitsky says:

I am going to try to get this. Thanks for the post!

  • Easy promotion! Thanks as always for the info!

  • We have some great Hyatt properties in the area – this one will be worth it.

  • Like when cards offer bonus rewards on items we all spend on and have to put on some card. Easy way to pick up something extra.

  • Cable/Internet might be one of chases January-March Freedom categories again next year. I usually pay up front for the coming year when this is offered. 5% tax free is worth about 8% taxable in my state. And, once when I cancelled service with the provider early, they just refunded it without any problem.

  • This is proving easier than I expected. I’m curious if my Walmart Grocery store purchases will code as grocery.

  • Travelfreek says:

This worked automatically (got the credit on 11/18/2018. Wow. It was easier than I expected and I’ll get my $25 in December as well. This credit card is the only one I use coincidentally since I’ve jumped the shark on all my other cards.
