Wyndham Rewards is currently offering double miles when transferring to United MileagePlus before April 30, 2021. After factoring in the 100% transfer bonus, you can get 1 United MileagePlus mile per 2.5 Wyndham Rewards points transferred — instead of the usual 5:1 transfer ratio.

This isn't the greatest promotion, but some people might want to take advantage if they are in need of United MileagePlus miles this month.

Doing the Math on this Promotion

Wyndham Rewards points are typically valued at around 0.9 cents per point. But, when used at Wyndham sweet spots, you can get 2 to 3 cents in value per point. Meanwhile, United MileagePlus miles are typically valued around 1.5 cents per mile. However, AwardWallet users have averaged a whopping 2.66 cents per mile from recent redemptions.

So, whether or not it makes sense to transfer points from Wyndham to United is going to depend on how you use your Wyndham points and United miles.

Our Take

If you know how to use Wyndham points, this isn't the best use of your points. Your Wyndham Rewards points are probably best redeemed for rooms and perks with Wyndham hotels. However, but this promotion could be good if you need to top off your United MileagePlus miles for a redemption — or to clear out unused Wyndham points.

I lost all my Wyndham points. I got an email saying I had 3 months before they expired. Then I got an email a week later saying they were all gone.

    Thanks, I’ll do this!

I won’t go through this offer.
Apart from the value of the transfer there is the fact that the Whyndham points expires.

If you have some stray/orphan points in. Your Wyndham account and need to top up your United miles, this is not a bad way to tie up some loose ends….not a good deal for any significant point transfer though….

Other than Wyndham points expiring, I think you’d have to desperate for UA miles to consider doing this. Thankfully you do point out how bad a redemption this would be.

It is a good opportunity when you Wyndham points will expire anyway because of the 4-year limitation.

This transfer rate does not make sense at all, why it is even 5:1 in the first place let alone the offer. Not worth it.

Overall this is still a bad value but given that Wyndham has a hard expiration policy on points (4 years after initial earning), if you have points that are expiring and are unable to use it, this might be a good way to salvage them for a reasonable value

While not a great value, also good use of Wyndham points that will automatically expire after 4 years.

I agree, for those who have specific flights in mind. Otherwise, transferring Wyndham Rewards to Caesars Rewards might be a better option.
