This Hyatt buy points promotion has ended. However, you can still buy Hyatt points here.

If you've been looking for an opportunity to stock up on valuable World of Hyatt points, listen up. Through December 20, 2025, Hyatt is offering a 20% discount on points purchases when you buy at least 3,000 points. This discount brings the cost-per-point value down to 2.08¢ apiece.

That may sound like a pricey purchase rate to those who don't know the World of Hyatt program. However, this rate is slightly lower than the 2.19¢ per point AwardWallet users average from their Hyatt points.

But when does it make sense to buy Hyatt points? Let's dive into some examples of when this is the best choice — or when you should use another way to earn Hyatt points.

Buy Hyatt Points Key Terms

  • This buy Hyatt points promotion runs through 11:59 p.m. EST on December 20, 2025.
  • Buy at least 3,000 Hyatt points to receive a 20% discount. This promotion drops the effective rate to just 2.08¢ each.
  • You must have been a World of Hyatt member for at least 60 days to buy points.
  • You can purchase up to 110,000 Hyatt points per calendar year during this promotional period.
  • Points will post within 48 hours of purchase.
  • Purchased points are not refundable and transactions are non-reversible.
  • Purchased points are considered “base points” and do not count toward earning World of Hyatt elite status.
  • All points purchases are processed by Points.com.
  • See the World of Hyatt terms and conditions for more details.

The terms state that points purchases can take up to 48 hours to post. However, according to data points from AwardWallet users, purchased Hyatt points typically post within 13 hours. This being said, AwardWallet users usually only utilize Balance Watch when points don't post immediately. So, the average time is likely even shorter than 13 hours.

Members can buy a maximum of 110,000 Hyatt points during this 20% discount promotion. If you buy the maximum points possible during this deal, you'll pay $2,288 for a total of 110,000 points. This nets an effective purchase rate of 2.08¢ per point.

When Does It Make Sense to Buy Hyatt Points?

Hyatt points are one of the most valuable hotel currencies around. Award nights in standard rooms at Hyatt hotels and resorts cost between 3,500 and 45,000 points per night — depending on the hotel's award category and whether your stay falls on off-peak, standard, or peak dates. Hyatt's all-inclusive award chart ranges from 12,000 to 58,000 points per night for a standard room.

This Hyatt buy points promotion could be worth utilizing in two scenarios. The first is when you're just short of the points necessary for that perfect award night you've been planning. The second is when buying enough points for an award night is cheaper than paying the cash rate for your stay.

It’s also worth noting that this will likely be the last Hyatt buy points promotion of 2025. That’s important because Hyatt limits how many points you can purchase each year. If you tend to max out your annual point purchases to use for travel in the coming year, this could be an offer worth taking advantage of. But just remember not to buy points without a clear plan to use them, since programs can devalue at any time.

Examples of Saving Money With This Buy Hyatt Points Offer

Numerous World of Hyatt sweet spots can present incredible value per point — at both luxury Hyatt properties and budget-friendly Hyatt properties.

Let's look at a few examples of when buying Hyatt points could save you money compared to booking a paid rate.

Rejuvenate in St. Kitts

The Caribbean is home to many incredible resorts. However, as cash prices increase, Hyatt's fixed award chart can provide some decent value. For example, the cheapest member rates in November 2025 at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour hover around $1,963 for a two-night stay.

Comparatively, award nights at this Category 7 property cost 25,000 Hyatt points per night on dates with off-peak award pricing:

You can buy 50,000 World of Hyatt points during this 20% discount promotion to score enough points for two off-peak nights for $1,040. That saves you around $900!

Scoring Hyatt nights for cheap

Thanks to Hyatt's peak-and-off-peak award chart, World of Hyatt members know they can book off-peak nights at Category 1 hotels for as little as 3,500 points per night. And there is no lack of Hyatt Category 1 hotels — even in the United States.

While these properties may not be in the center of major cities, they can be clutch for road trips and overnight stays by airports, such as this Hyatt House near the Raleigh/Durham Airport, which is bookable for just 3,500 points per night periodically throughout the year:

The cost for one night in a King Bed room will run you $73 when you buy points for 2.08¢ apiece — while the cash rate regularly comes out to more than $150.00 per night (after taxes). That means you would save over 50% on this property if you were to buy Hyatt points during this promotion.

See the sights in New York City

For an excellent example of when buying Hyatt points could save you money in a popular destination, we're heading to New York City and the Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South. As anyone who's been knows, New York can get expensive quickly!

But since it's only a Hyatt Category 5 property, award nights cost 17k points on off-peak dates, 20k points on standard dates, and 23k points on peak dates.

This means that you'd need at 34k points to grab a two-night stay on off-peak nights. If you purchased these points now with a discount, you'd pay $707.20. Alternatively, you could pay the cash rate of this two-night stay, which comes out to $1,219.91. We'll take the $500 worth of savings here every time.

Hyatt Buy Points History

The current 2.08¢ per-point rate falls well short of the best buy Hyatt point offers. The best-ever rate was in December 2021, when Hyatt sold points for 1.68¢ each. Hyatt also briefly sold points for 1.54¢ in March 2024, but that was a short-lived pricing mistake.

The more recent best offers have been for around 1.80¢ per Hyatt point. Compared to that, this promotion's purchase rate of 2.08¢ per point is rather poor — but it's still better than no discount if you need Hyatt points.

World of Hyatt

Two-Player Mode to Buy More Hyatt Points

Hyatt typically only allows its members to purchase a maximum of 55,000 points per year if there's no promotion and 110,000 if there is (though sometimes this changes).

But if that's still not enough to book an award, Hyatt also allows members to combine Hyatt points for a redemption. To initiate a points transfer to another member, fill out this form (caution: PDF link) with both parties' information. Then, you can send it to the email or mailing address on the form. However, you can only send or receive points from another account once every 30 days.

Options Besides Buying Hyatt Points

Another great way to earn Hyatt points is through a co-branded credit card. Hyatt partners with Chase to offer The World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

Additionally, Hyatt is a 1:1 transfer partner with Bilt Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards. That means that Ultimate Rewards-earning cards — like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card — can effectively earn World of Hyatt points, too.

Bottom Line

World of Hyatt is one of our favorite hotel loyalty programs. Any time there's a promotion to buy Hyatt points, it's worth considering whether it can work for you. This 20% discount promotion allows World of Hyatt members to grab points for 2.08¢ apiece through December 20, 2025. But it's ending soon.

Buying Hyatt points during this promotion could make sense if you have a solid redemption in mind. However, especially considering Hyatt caps the number of points you can buy each calendar year, you may want to hold off on speculative points purchases in case Hyatt offers a lower purchase rate later this year.
