British Airways recently announced the introduction of Avios-only flights — flights only bookable using British Airways Avios award currency. The new batch of flights is available on the airline's routes between London and Barcelona, Tenerife, Nice, Las Palmas, and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.
This is the second set of Avios-only flights. According to the British Airways press release, the first round of Avios-only flights was so successful that all tickets were “snapped up by Members in less than 24 hours.” So act quickly if you want to take advantage of this new batch of flights.
British Airways London to Barcelona Avios-Only Flights
British Airways is including a bread-and-butter route between London Heathrow (LHR) and Barcelona (BCN) as part of its new round of Avios-only flights. Fly from London to Barcelona on March 29, 2024 and the reverse on April 7, 2024. Round-trip awards are priced as follows:

British Airways is also operating Avios-only flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Tenerife (TFN) in March and April 2024. The outbound Avios flight is on March 29, while the return Avios-only flight is the following week on April 7.

Looking to get away sooner? British Airways is offering Avios-only flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Las Palmas (LPA) in the Canary Islands. The outbound flight will be on November 15, 2023 and the return on November 22, 2023.
Then, British Airways is offering Avios-only flights between London Gatwick (LGW) and Lanzarote (ACE) in the Canary Islands. The outbound is December 4, 2023 and the return is December 11, 2023.

Our Take
On the one hand, an award-only flight is great news as it means hundreds of available award seats. However, on the other hand, this is really just a marketing gimmick. These seats are useless to you unless you want to travel to the particular destination on offer on the particular dates British Airways is offering these flights.
This time around, British Airways included five destinations — instead of just two the first time around — and to some appealing destinations. However, not all travelers can make the limited dates work with their travel schedule.
If you're considering booking one of these new awards, make sure to crunch the numbers based on your Avios balance and travel goals to ensure you get the biggest bang for your Avios.
