After originally launching in 2021, the Capital One Venture X Business is finally available to the public. And it's opened the doors with a massive welcome offer. In many ways, this is the small business version of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. However, there are some key differences between the two cards that you should understand.

Let's take a look at the key features of the Venture X Business, starting with the enormous welcome offer of 150,000 miles — an offer that's finally available to the general public.

Earn 150,000 Miles Bonus Miles With the Venture X Business

The card comes with a massive welcome bonus of 150,000 miles once you spend $30,000 in the first 3 months from account opening.

The welcome bonus is an excellent offer if you can manage the minimum spend and can be leveraged for thousands of dollars worth of value. Adopting a similar redemption strategy as you would with the Capital One Venture X, the welcome bonus is more valuable than the card's $395 annual fee for several years.

For context, AwardWallet users who transfer these miles to Capital One airline and hotel partners get an average value of 2.66¢ apiece. That would make 150,000 miles worth nearly $4,000.

Venture X Business Highlights

The new card is packed with features and offers a strong set of benefits as well as excellent earning rates, particularly on hotels and car rentals. Key features of the card include:

It's interesting that the Venture X Business has access to non-lounge aspects of Priority Pass after this benefit was removed from the Capital One Venture X on January 1, 2023. Other differences between the two cards include the bill pay and lack of preset spending limit offered on the business card. In other ways, the cards are very similar.

Venture X Business travel protections

Your trips and purchases can be covered through built-in protections like these:

Using Capital One Miles

What can you do with the miles earned on the Venture X Business? Plenty. Capital One has 18 airline and hotel transfer partners, including programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, British Airways Executive Club, Choice Privileges, Wyndham Rewards, and Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles that provides one-way award flights from anywhere in the U.S. to Hawaii for just 7,500 miles per person in economy.

It's also possible to redeem your miles as a statement credit against recent travel purchases. You'll get a value of 1 cent per mile here.

You also can redeem your miles toward travel reservations in the Capital One Travel portal. They're worth 1¢ apiece here also. However, we don't recommend doing this. Given the bonus earnings available if you pay with your credit card in the portal, you'll do better paying for the booking, earning 10x or 5x bonus miles, and then redeeming your miles as a statement credit afterward.

There are other, less valuable redemptions that we don't advise. These include using your miles to pay for purchases via PayPal or Amazon, redeeming for gift cards, or cashing them out. You'll get 0.8 cents per mile in value with most of these, except an abysmal 0.5 cents each cashing out your miles.

And since miles don't expire as long as your account is open, you can focus on earning and redeeming them at pleasure without worrying about losing any miles along the way.

Who's Eligible for the Venture X Business Sign-Up Bonus?

As will all credit card issuers, Capital One has a few rules you'll need to follow.

First, you can only be approved for one Capital One card every six months. Second, the issuer is known to be sensitive to the number of new accounts and credit inquiries it sees on your credit report. High numbers here could lead to a denial, even if you have a good credit score.

Lastly, you'll see these terms on the application page:

“Existing or previous cardmembers are not eligible for this product if they have received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 48 months.”

For most Venture X Business applicants, this shouldn't be an issue. However, it's worth noting that you can't earn the bonus more than once per 48-month period.

And while many Capital One credit cards report to your personal credit report, a spokesperson for Capital One confirmed that this card will not report to your personal credit report so long as your account is in good standing.

Our Take

If you are a small business owner and have the spending capacity, the welcome offer on the Venture X Business could provide thousands of dollars in value. Admittedly, this may be out of reach for a fair number of businesses.

That said, the card offers numerous ongoing perks that more than justify its annual fee. These include insurance protections, a great return on everyday spending, lounge access, bonus miles, and an annual travel credit. And if the spending threshold is attainable for your business, you'll have thousands of dollars in added value, thanks to the miles available in this huge welcome bonus.
