Unlike The Blue for Business® Credit Card from American Express it replaces, the Blue Business Plus earns full Membership Rewards points like those earned on the Gold and Platinum business cards, which you can transfer to Amex’s stellar list of transfer partners for big value travel.

Earn 2x Membership Rewards Points on All Purchases up to $50K Each Year

The highlight of the Blue Business Plus is earning 2X points on everyday business purchases.

With no category bonuses or monthly/quarterly rotating categories to keep on top of and no annual fee, the Blue Business Plus is the only no annual fee business card offering 2x points on all purchases and an essential new card to add to your wallet.

You can take advantage of the big savings provided by the Amex Offers program when you hold the Blue Business Plus, and in addition to earning 2x Membership Rewards points on everyday spending, you’ll also have access to Amex's Do More Business program which provides up to 25% cashback at vendors including Staples, FedEx, and Dell.

The card earns full Membership Rewards points which you can transfer to travel partners which include Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Aeroplan, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Delta SkyMiles, Aeromexico Club Premier, and one of our all-time favorites, ANA Mileage Club.

We count Membership Rewards as one of the best flexible rewards currencies available, and the Blue Business Plus is a fantastic entry-level card without the annual fees typically associated with business credit cards.

The Perfect Rewards Card for Small Business and Sole Proprietors

As we point out in his post detailing how (almost) anyone can get a business credit card, you don’t need to operate a large business such as a retail store or restaurant to qualify for a business credit card, and Amex made it clear in its press release this card is aimed fair and square at small businesses and sole proprietors.

That could be something as simple as a hobby selling items on eBay, a side project renting an apartment on Airbnb, working part-time as a trainer, educator, consultant, or even teaching piano to kids in your spare time. You could earn 2x points on everyday expenses like the cleaning costs between Airbnb guests or new instruments if you’re a music teacher, expenses which don’t currently fall under a category bonus.

The Blue Business Plus is also perfect for rewards fans trying to keep their new application count under the dreaded 5/24, with business card applications not counted towards your personal application count.

Final Thoughts

You’ll earn 2x points on any business expense, including items like training and education, paying your taxes, or cleaners for your (home..) office, a first for no-annual-fee rewards cards, and a must-have for any small business operator.

You get access to the Amex Do More Business program, Amex Offers, and better yet, the card doesn’t count towards your 5/24 count. • Great card consideration for our small business. Is the credit limit $50k?

  • Kevin Felt says:

Seriously? This is the first I’ve heard of this card. Such a great deal, with no annual fee. Is there anything that isn’t included in the 2x points or can you use it for anything?

  • I’m surprised to say that AMEX delivered my card to me in three days even though I didn’t ask for expedited shipping. Now, I’m just waiting for more AMEX offers to load to my new account.

  • The no AF speaks to me!

  • 20,000 amex points is not a lot for a minimun spend but i guess for no annual fee I should not complain.

  • Solid card for non-category. Will pick one up after my other Blue for Business from last year becomes a year old

  • I got this card yesterday. With 2x on MR points, 20,000 bonus points and access to AMEX offers for business cards, this one will be a winner for me. I’ve been looking for a no fee AMEX business card, and I’m glad I waited until this one came out.

  • Great card! 2x on everything…not bad.

  • I have to get one of these ASAP

  • Interesting. I have a couple others on the radar first, but this might be a solid card to have in my wallet eventually.

  • Nice offer – too bad I need to limit my number of hard inquiries!

  • Karen Klein says:

This a pretty sweet deal. Not owning any type of business, I couldn’t take advantage but my friend might. Hmm. Maybe. Do you know when you guys put out these blogs on new cards, etc., do the credit card companies tell you that they had such and such uptick of applicants? I’m sure they make sure you get something for pointing out the new deals and reminding us. Thank you for that. I am not complaining just curious. I love that you keep reminding us all the deals!

Do you have a blog post on an intro into miles, etc? I was just listening to a Conde Nast Traveler podcast and they went over a whole bunch of things for maybe someone who is completely new to points and miles info. It was very interesting to listen to, even though I’m not new to points and miles earning. Or do you assume that if we come to your website we are pretty aware of it already?

  • Looks good, but only really for Krisflyer or ANA miles…

  • This is great! Running out of credit card slots with AA.

  • Bertrand Say says:

I am signing up for this one.

  • No annual fee…you have nothing to lose by getting this card. Great way to get some Amex points in your war chest if you don’t already have some

  • A strong offer from Amex!

  • Jason Picker says:

Love the no annual fee, but as I spend a nice amount of time abroad, the foreign fees are a deal killer for me

  • The minimum spend is too high for me with this one

  • Firstly no annual fee is a big plus, I never understand why people pay such a massive annual fee for Platinum or even gold in the 2nd year.
2 pts on spend, that rate is excellent as I sure miss the days of 2pts a years or so ago as racking up decent amounts of MR has slid since they dropped it to 1pt.
Good card and worth a definite consideration.

  • interesting, might have some fun combination with others

  • Looks like a good promotion!

  • Air Flyer says:

Can someone without a business get this?

  • This looks like another card that I need to add to my repertoire. I am quite a fan of MR and a card that gets 2 points per dollar with no annual fee is a no brainer.

  • This is a fantastic card! Too bad for the foreign transaction fee of 2.7%!

  • I have the Blue Business Feb 2017 offer,
    10k – 1st spend 3 months
    20k – restaurant (10x on $2000 for 6 months
    2x MR on $50k 1st year
30% MR bonus on annual spend

So I’ll wait until next year, in fact I may wait until its clear what will happen to the SPG/B cards before I do anything as I have 5 Amex CCs now plus 3 Charge cards.

  • I should look into this!

  • With earning 2x transferable point everywhere, this is definitely going on my to-get list.

  • marshall says:

Wow. This is a game changer for everyday non bonus spend. I’ll be opening this card immediately. And I don’t have to worry about this effecting chase 5/24!!

  • I didn’t know the AmEx “Blue” lineup had MR-earning cards.
This card looks very promising, I might as well pick one up.
    Thanks for the post!

  • What about the Fidelity card? AMEX MR value is less than 1 cent per point

  • The good, no annual fee, the bad 2.7% foreign currency fee. What is the approximate value of a Membership Reward point?
