Award travelers love the many sweet spots in the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club program. Here are a few of our favorites.
Virgin Atlantic Upper Class from 23k Citi points
Virgin Atlantic uses dynamic pricing for its own flights. While some award rates can be sky-high, you can still regularly find excellent deals — especially in Upper Class.
The cheapest redemptions we’ve seen between the U.S. and Europe — in Upper Class — start at just 29,000 Virgin points. Thanks to the 30% bonus, premium Citi ThankYou cardholders only need to transfer 23,000 Citi points to book one of these flights — such as New York, Boston, or Washington D.C. to London. Just watch out for the taxes and fees, which can be steep on certain routes:
Fly to Japan in ANA business class or first class
One of the best uses of Virgin points is booking ANA business or first class awards. Here’s what one-way awards typically cost — and what premium Citi cardholders would need to transfer with the 30% bonus:
- 35,000 Virgin points to/from Hawaii → 27k Citi points during this transfer bonus
- 45,000 Virgin points to/from the U.S. West Coast → 35k Citi points during this transfer bonus

If you're lucky enough to find availability, you can also snag ANA first-class awards for a stellar price. One-way flights from the U.S. West Coast cost 72,500 Virgin points (just 56,000 Citi points with the bonus), while East Coast or European routes cost 85,000 Virgin points (66,000 Citi points).
ANA first-class award space is notoriously hard to find, but one of the best workarounds is using Seats.aero’s ANA first-class finder tool. Once you spot a bookable seat through Seats.aero or another ANA partner program, call Virgin Atlantic Flying Club at 800-862-8621 to reserve your award.

Domestic Delta award flights from 6k Citi points
