Chase is back again with its Month of More promotion. Bonuses are available when redeeming points through the Ultimate Rewards store for Apple products, gift cards, and other select stores through May 31, 2023. This promotion comes just in time for Mother's Day, meaning you can grab something nice using elevated cash-back deals and elevated redemption rates for your points.
But is it worth it? Should you use your points through this promotion or hang onto them for other uses? Let's take a closer look.
Chase Freedom Month of More Detailse
Chase Freedom cardholders can take advantage of three different deals during May's Month of More promotion: 5% cash back on select brands, a 10% bonus on Apple products, and a 15% discount on gift cards from select retailers. All of these deals are offered through the Chase shopping portal.
These deals are targeted at cardholders of one of the following cards:
With these four cards, you can usually redeem your points at a rate 1¢ each. During the Month of More promotion, however, you'll get up to 15% better value on your purchases, increasing the value of your points to 1.15¢ apiece.
It's important to remember that the Month of More offers only applies to online purchases in the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal. These bonuses don't apply to in-store purchases or purchases not made with a Freedom card.
Cash Back Opportunities
Spring is upon us, and you can redeem your cash-back rewards for Mother's or Father's Day, high school graduations, or getting ready for some yard and gardening work at these elevated rates:

Redeem Points for a 10% Bonus on Apple Purchases
Apple is one of the most popular brands out there. That could be because they produce some of the best smartphones, computers, and earbuds on the market. But let's be honest… Apple isn't cheap! Any opportunity to get Apple products at a discount is worth considering.
For the Month of More, Freedom cardholders will receive a 10% bonus (1.1¢ per point) when they redeem points for purchases through the Apple Ultimate Rewards store. This promotion includes iPhones — which weren't included when this promotion first started in 2020.
Note that cardholders of other Chase Ultimate Rewards cards can redeem Ultimate Rewards points for Apple purchases with a bonus.
Up to 15% Off Select Gift Cards
Are you looking for a gift but can't quite think of what to get? A gift card could be the perfect option. If you know what restaurants they like — or maybe if they have a pet — you can get up to 15% off when using your Chase points.
You can select from the following brands at these elevated rates:
- Applebee's: 10%
- Bath & Body Works: 15%
- Chili's: 15%
- Chipotle: 10%
- Domino's: 10%
- Gap: 15%

- Home Chef: 15%
- Home Depot: 10%
- Macy's: 15%
- PetSmart: 15%
- Spa Finder: 15%
- Wayfair: 15%
Your Ultimate Rewards points fetch a value of 1.1¢–1.15¢ apiece through these offers.
Are There More Valuable Ways to Redeem Your Points?
At first glance, 5% cash back on some big brands, 10% discount on Apple products, and 15% off some popular restaurants and stores doesn't seem like a bad deal. And in a vacuum, we would tend to agree. But because this is Chase we are talking about, there are ways to redeem these points for more bang for your buck. If you're like us and would prefer to redeem your points for travel or lodging, then there are ways you can do that.
If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, you're much better off transferring your points to Chase's travel partners. Doing so can unlock much more value from your points.
With the Month of More deal, you receive between 1.05-1.15¢ per point when redeeming your Chase points. By transferring your points, you'll receive around 1.97¢ per point. For example, you could transfer as little as 3,500–5,000 points for a hotel stay. Or you could transfer just 7,717 points to Southwest to book a flight to Hawaii.
It may not provide as much value, but you also can book travel through the Chase travel portal. With the Ink Preferred and Sapphire Preferred, your points are worth 1.25¢ apiece in the portal. With the Sapphire Reserve, this jumps up to 1.5¢ per point.
The Chase Month of More promotion is nice if you're looking to grab a gift for someone or want to upgrade your smartphone or computer and aren't worried about maximizing your points redemptions — or if you're sitting on a mountain of points and know you have your travel goals covered.
But if you're like us and prefer to squeeze the most juice from your points via travel, then you can do a lot better than the 1.15¢ per point you will get through Month of More.
Before you redeem your points for merchandise through the Month of More promotion, make sure to use the Cashback Monitor. You might be able to earn more in cashback on a purchase than you'd get through this promotion. In the end, it depends on your preference and the best fit for your shopping, travel, and redemption goals.
